Today, the Supreme Court of Canada released a landmark decision recognizing a new tort of intimate partner violence in Ahluwalia v. Ahluwalia.

This important decision acknowledges the profound and lasting harms caused by intimate partner violence, including coercive control, psychological abuse, fear, and loss of autonomy.

At The Jean Tweed Centre, we see the impacts of intimate partner violence every day through our work supporting women and children affected by violence, trauma, substance use, housing instability, and related challenges.

We are incredibly proud to introduce our full 2026 Executive Leadership Committee & Community Ambassadors for the The Jean Tweed Centre, chaired by Laura Compagni.
This remarkable group of more than 40 volunteers is helping move our mission forward through advocacy, awareness, leadership, community connection, and fundraising in support of women, children, and families across our communities.
Collectively, last year’s Executive Leadership Committee helped generate more than $100,000 in impact for the Jean Tweed Centre, in addition to meaningful in-kind support, strategic community partnerships, advocacy, awareness, and engagement that further strengthened our mission and reach across the community.
Each member brings unique experience, passion, and dedication to this work, and we are deeply grateful to have them standing alongside us.
To learn more about each of our members and read their full bios, visit our recent social posts where we introduced the committee in batches over the past few days.
Thank you to our 2026 Executive Leadership Committee & Community Ambassadors for helping strengthen the future of the Jean Tweed Centre.
