THANK YOU!! Last week was Volunteer Week and belatedly I thank all our amazing volunteers at the 138th Toronto Group. What you do is so amazing for the youth, while they may not realize this today they will at some point in the future.

Parents - it is so important to let a Scouter know how they’ve impacted your or your child’s life. Most people don’t realize this, but we do everything we do as volunteers. We don’t get paid. We don’t get bonuses. And honestly, we rarely even hear whether we’re doing a good job or if something needs to change.

Yet every single year, we have 20 or more children depending on us — to teach them, encourage them, cheer for them, and care for them. And we do. We care deeply.

Some of these kids stay in our lives long after Beavers, Cubs, or Scouts as they come back as Scouters themselves, return as parents, or stay connected because those early years mattered that much. That’s the impact Scouters have — often quietly, without ever being told.

Feeling appreciated isn’t about ego. It’s about knowing that the countless hours, the planning, the energy, the patience, the heart we pour into your children actually makes a difference. That feeling is what keeps us committed. It’s what keeps us showing up.
