At South Parkdale Community Pollinator Gardens, Milky Way Garden in Parkdale.

Stephen is a writer, radio contributor, and citizen naturalist originally from Western Canada, now based in Toronto. He is the author of ‘Paths of Pollen’ a science/ecology book that chronicles pollen’s do-or-die mission to spread plant genes under increasing ecological and strain, and the struggle of plants and their pollinators amid shrinking biodiversity. He is a core team member of the South Parkdale Community Pollinator Gardens (SPCPG).

Ally is the SPCPG founder & coordinator. After over a decade of guiding outdoor adventures, Ally made a change to focus on mental health and harm reduction. In the city, she craved ways to remain connected to nature. She began learning about habitat gardening through Project Swallowtail and her passion has grown exponentially. Ally is interested in building inclusive communities and the connection between our well-being, mental health and nature. In her ideal world, all people would have access to what truly nurtures them, including feeling a deep connection and relatedness to each other, nature and wildness.

Sending out a big thank you to our friends at BUFCO (The Backyard Urban Farm Co) for generously donating over a150 pots of veggie & herb seedlings to LEGS community gardens and to the Humber GARDENS pod project! BUFCO headed by award winning husband and wife team Arlene and Marc was established in 2009 with the goal of feeding people's urge to grow food. Over the years they have worked with garden lovers of all descriptions. Arlene and Marc's journey has taken them from the motion picture industry to advocating for Urban agriculture industry in the city of Toronto. They truly understand the importance of people growing their own food. LEGS recognizes their efforts and is grateful for their donation to the LEGS community gardens. Check out their full story at www.bufco.ca A special thank you to Victoria for helping to coordinate this endeavour!
