The South Etobicoke Community Land Trust is joining 106 other organizations in forming an Encampment Justice Coalition, and in signing an open letter to Premier Doug Ford asking for Bill 6, the Safer Municipalities Act, to be rescinded.

Bill 6 proposes six months of jail time and an impossible $10,000 fine for homeless people living outdoors. Homeless people don’t need to be punished — they need affordable housing.

While the South Etobicoke Community Land Trust remains a non-partisan organization, we will continue to advocate for what is equitable and just for all of us in regards to affordable housing and land use policy!

The Ontario election is on February 27, and we're working to put co-op housing on the agenda.

We've created a tool for you to email your local MPP candidates to ask them to commit to these three priorities:
✅ Build new co-op homes
✅ Protect renters by helping co-ops purchase private market rental buildings and convert them into co-ops
✅ Support the long-term success of the more than 125,000 co-ops in Ontario

We need candidates to know what you already know: that co-ops are a housing solution that is built to last.
