LongRun Graduate Horse Story - Barchessa

Michelle of Cedarstone Farm got in touch to share an update on Barchessa, written by her daughter Maddie, who has taken over riding her. It was love at first sight, and the pair have quickly formed a wonderful partnership.

“Tessa had a quiet winter and has just started back up in February and has found a love for jumping already, especially cross country!

She has just started showing and has proved to be a wonderful baby! I can’t wait to see how far she goes!”

Tessa foaled in 2022, by Frosted out of Sanguine (by Quality Road), raced 3 times with no wins, last raced 2025.

Thank you owner Michael Lay and trainer Donald C. MacRae for donating her to us.

We are so fortunate to have old friends like Kevin Sheehan, who is running a spectacular 150 acre farm north of Barrie and introduced us to its lovely owner, Angela Pidutti, who generously offered to provide a home for a couple of our sanctuary horses.

Low in the Forest, a 2012 son of Old Forester who won 3 races and $105,086, and war horse Grainger County, a 10 time winner in 48 starts who banked almost $264,000 are enjoying their new digs and await the arrival of the venerable English Conqueror, who will be joining them in the very near future.

LongRun is so appreciative of Angela's big heart!

Quiet Sort is looking for a smaller, yet experienced rider to take her into a second career!

This little girl stands 15.1h, and did not spend alot of time at the track. She is lovely to work around on the ground, very calm and respectful, but under saddle she is quite green and spicy. 🌶️

She has never done anything mean, she simply lacks education in what we are asking of her. She is very sweet and will pick up a new career easily, as long as her rider has patience and can laugh at her exuberance.

She did have chips removed from her knees as a 2yr old, however she recovered fully and has been cleared by two vets to return to a full athletic career.

Quiet Sort was foaled in 2023, Silent Name ex Flashy Consort, by Bold N’Flashy. She is unraced.

Thank you owner C. Scott Abbott and trainer Mike Doyle for donating her to us.

Everyone at LongRun was deeply saddened to hear of Francine Villeneuve's passing.

Francine, pictured here at the LR farm with Pink Lloyd, was not only a supporter, she was a friend.

A hard and dedicated worker, even beyond her very successful career as a jockey, and just a beautiful soul, Francine will be missed by all. R.I.P. lovely lady.

LongRun Graduate Horse Story - A Thread of Blue

Meghan was in touch with us recently with an update, A Thread of Blue is loving his home and forever family:

“Blu is doing so well!

We absolutely love him to bits, and it’s clear he loves his people just as much. He has settled into our family beautifully.

My daughter, Georgia (10), has started riding him occasionally with tack on, and he carts her around like a seasoned pro. My son, Nolan, loves visiting him and spoiling him with carrots and mints.

We wanted to share a little update and let you know how much he is loved and appreciated.”

Thank you for sharing!

A Thread of Blue foaled in 2016, by Hard Spun out of Enthused (by Seeking The Gold) had 38 starts with 6 wins earning $1,134, 331, last raced 2023.

Thank you owner Michael Lay and trainer Donald C. MacRae for donating him to us.

LongRun Graduate Horse Story - Birthday Munnings

We received news of Birthday Munnings from Jen, mother of Allie, Bert’s forever person:

“An amazing weekend away with Hope Equestrian show with Rob Marking. It brought tears to my eyes to see the intense bond and trust Allie and Birthday Munnings (Bert) have.

We arrived on Saturday and Bert took a few breaths and then looked at Allie like “ we’ve got this”!

Sunday proved that as Allie and Bert got a 3rd, 2nd and a 3rd in the .6 jumpers. Bert had never jumped .6 or a course and he took it in stride.

So proud of both of them beyond words. In Allie’s words “it hits so much harder when you trained your horse yourself “.

We did have some help and guidance along the way from Rob Marling. Thank you for a successful weekend.”

Birthday Munnings foaled in 2020, by Munnings out of Lanett Lady (by Teuflesberg), had 11 starts with 1 win earning $78,373, last raced 2024.

Thank you owner Dewberry Thoroughbreds LLC (John K. Dewberry) and trainer Josie Carroll for donating him to us.
