Not Just Tourists

Not Just Tourists Take a suitcase, change a life. We collect, sort and pack up to 10 kg suitcases of supplies for countries with people in need.

The suitcases are packed under the supervision of medical professionals. They are then delivered by tourists and business travelers to clinics in the most need. Not Just Tourists is entirely volunteer driven and has been operating since 1994. Donors will receive a release form from NJT Toronto so they are not responsible for any supplies donated. We accept the following:

• Supplies such as bandag

es, antiseptics, examination gloves, scalpels, wound-care kits, IV kits in sterile packaging, masks, disposable needles
• Wheel Chairs, crutches, walkers.

From Bonnie of Pismo Beach, "Good morning and good news!
I am safely back from Ecuador and am happy to report that my passenger friends in Riobamba had friends run a medical clinic high in the Andes mountains for the indigenous people and they have a hard time accessing medical care. The couple in this photo are both doctors and are both from the indigenous tribe of the Andes mountains, and they are trying to do back to their own community. They look thrilled to get them supplies as well as some audio fibers in the native Quechua language, some solar lights, and some used prescription eyeglasses to share with their patients. Such a precious couple!"

Hello NJT Family! NJT Manitoba - Winnipeg is having a sorting and team building party!

It is time to roll up our sleeves and get those supplies moving. Our warehouse is ready for a refresh, and we need your hands (and hearts) to help us turn donations into life-saving kits. Whether you’ve been with us for years or are looking to get involved for the first time, come join us for a day of productivity, community, and impact.

What We’re Doing

The Big Sort: Organizing medical supplies to prepare them for upcoming travelers.
Meet & Greet: A great chance to meet fellow volunteers and swap stories over stacks of gauze and stethoscopes.

Donation Drop-off: If you have been "fostering" donations at home or in your car, please bring them with you! We want to get them sorted and ready to ship out.

Bring a Friend!

The more, the merrier. If you have friends or family members who want to help out for the day, bring them along!

Planning to stay a while? For those interested in becoming regular NJT volunteers, please have them fill out our official Winnipeg Volunteer Form

Why it Matters

Every box we sort brings us one step closer to helping a clinic in need. Let's make this our most productive sorting party yet!

Questions? Visit us at www.Njt.net or reach out to your local chapter lead.
See you on June 6th!

Thank you,

Tim Blazanovic

Santiago de Cuba is often overlooked, so Vancouver NJT was excited to be able to supply Jeff with a suitcase each for two hospitals there.
We happened to have ideal supplies for a heart surgery hospital as well as for a maternity hospital. Santiago de Cuba's heart surgery (cardiology) centre serves Cuba's eastern provinces and is located inside Saturnino Lora Hospital. Right next door is Materno Norte Tamara Bunke Bider.
Using doctor contacts to make arrangements, Jeff kindly delivered to both the cardiology centre (top picture) and then to the maternity hospital next door (2nd picture). The 3rd picture shows him outside the heart centre with one of the doctors. We were thrilled in Vancouver when Jeff reported double success.
PS: This was just part of his outreach. Before his trip, Jeff collected cash donations from Canadian supporters. Then, using a wish list from the director of a Santiago de Cuba orphanage, Jeff bought milk, school supplies, diapers and other things (including his treat for the kids of pencil crayons). Cuban friends quickly helped him find these supplies.
Milk is hard to get for poor Cubans now that Cuba's subsidized food system is breaking down. Jeff remarked after dropping off his supplies: "There were two young orphaned babies there, one 7 months, and a three month old. The latter was quite malnourished with sticks for arms and legs. It was pretty hard to see but I am very happy with what we did and I think we will do more.” Jeff, thank you for your thoughtfulness and kindness for Cubans in need!
