Friends of Sorauren Park

Friends of Sorauren Park A non-profit community organization dedicated to the completion and enjoyment of Sorauren Park. This land includes the future Wabash Community Centre.

The Friends of Sorauren Park (formerly Wabash Building Society) is an all-volunteer, community-based non-profit organization. We are focused on completing Sorauren Avenue Park by expanding into the industrial land along Wabash Avenue that the City of Toronto purchased for the park in 2000. The FOSP also promotes the park generally, offers programming such as the Outdoor Movie Series and natural ic

e rink, and maintains the websites SoraurenPark.com and BuildWabashNow.org. FOSP meetings are open to the public and you are invited to attend and get involved. We are always looking for new members! We usually meet the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Sorauren Fieldhouse.

We acknowledge that Sorauren Park is situated on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat people, and is now home to many First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples from across Turtle Island. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit. We recognize, honour and respect these nations as the traditional stewards of this land.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out for Gardening Day at Sorauren Park 🌿💛
Because of you, the gardens are thriving, the trees are well cared for, and our shared spaces feel even more welcoming. It was so special to see neighbours connecting, getting their hands dirty, and making a real impact together.

We’re also incredibly grateful to iDeal on the Park for keeping our volunteers fueled with free coffee ☕❤️ and for their support.

Days like this are what community is all about. We couldn’t have done it without you.

🏗️ BIG NEWS for our neighbourhood! The Wabash Community Recreation Centre is one step closer to reality.

After a 30-year journey, the City of Toronto issued a public construction tender for the Wabash CRC at Sorauren Park this spring. Construction firms are now bidding on the work — with shovels expected in the ground in the second half of 2026.

Here's what to look forward to:
🏊 Pool
🏋️ Gym
🌿 Geothermal heating & cooling
🏚️ The beloved linseed building exterior & iconic chimney preserved with heritage designation

This is the moment our community has been working toward for decades. Stay tuned for updates on timelines and local construction impacts.

Visit our website at the link in bio for the full story and more on the history of this project.
