When Lejla came to Wellspring, she was looking for support. What she found was community, understanding, and a place that helped her feel like herself again. 💛

“You feel like you are coming to family. Everyone understands what you are going through.”

Today, more people than ever are turning to Wellspring for that same sense of connection and care — and you can help make it possible.

Thanks to a generous matching gift from Wellspring Board Chair Matt Barasch, every donation will be doubled, helping twice as many people access vital cancer support programs.

Axillary Web Syndrome, often called “cording,” is a common and sometimes painful side effect after lymph node dissection that can affect mobility, range of motion, and daily activities.

In this Be Well Talk recording, physiotherapist Cynthia Chung discusses how to recognize the signs and symptoms of cording, treatment approaches that may help manage discomfort, and gentle exercises you can do at home to support recovery and restore mobility.

Whether you are experiencing cording yourself or supporting someone who is, this session offers helpful tools and practical guidance to support comfort and independence. 🌿

After being diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, Sandra Gabriel wasn’t sure she wanted support.

“I’ll be honest – I didn’t want to go [to Wellspring],” she says. “Going meant admitting I had cancer and needed help.”

But through Wellspring’s Cancer Exercise Program, Sandra found more than physical strength – she found connection, encouragement, and people who truly understood.

“We share experiences, we encourage each other, we check in,” she says. “Even if our situations are different, there’s this understanding you don’t have to explain.”

This May marks both Mental Health Awareness Month and National Caregiver Awareness Month – an important reminder that cancer impacts far more than the body.

For many people living with cancer, the emotional toll can include anxiety, fear of recurrence, isolation, uncertainty, and distress that continues long after treatment ends. At the same time, caregivers are often quietly carrying their own emotional, physical, and financial burdens while supporting someone they love.

At Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation, we see every day that cancer affects entire families – not just individuals. That’s why supportive care matters.

No one should have to navigate cancer alone. And no caregiver should feel invisible while doing it.
