many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island.

Meet the team behind one of our favourite spots at Evergreen Brick Works 🌿

Chantal and the gardening team created the Birds, Bees & Butterflies Garden with one goal in mind: building habitat for wildlife.

To support pollinators and other creatures, every habitat needs three things:
💧 Water
🏡 Shelter
🌼 Food

Cup Plant collects rainwater in its leaves, creating tiny drinking stations for insects and birds. Native plants, fruiting trees, and shrubs provide nectar, pollen, seeds, and berries throughout the seasons. And by leaving stems, sticks, and plant material standing through winter, the garden provides shelter for countless insects and other wildlife.

A beautiful reminder that even small actions can create thriving habitat in the city.

🍓 Strawberry season is here, and so is the Heart Berry Celebration at Evergreen Brick Works! 🍓

Join us on at the Saturday Farmers Market on June 20 from 8am-1pm for a joyful celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day and the summer solstice.

Inspired by the strawberry’s deep cultural significance in many Indigenous communities, the “heart berry” symbolizes love, healing, connection, and the coming together of community.
