Hello!

My name is Louie and I am a very sweet male Turkish Van cross with white fur and orange markings on my face and tail.

I used to live in a shelter north of the city before coming to live with my foster mom, her dog and my kitty pal Alexander, who was also in the shelter with me.

I love people and all kinds of affection.
I enjoy trading nose bumps and absolutely melt during tummy rubs.
I’m a talkative boy, often calling out to Alexander to come and play.
I love my toys, especially the laser and wand.

I’m a little more shy than Alexander and need some time and encouragement to feel comfortable but am becoming more social and confident every day.
I have a good appetite and am litter trained.

I like cats and am becoming more comfortable around the dog in my foster home.
My foster mom thinks I would be fine with respectful children.

I’m neutered and ready to go to my forever home.
I’d like to live with a cat in my new home and if you have room for both me and Alexander that would be nice.

A note from Louie’s foster mom: “Louie is an incredibly sweet and gentle cat who loves people and is a real snuggle buddy.
He would do well in a loving home that would give him the affection, time and patience he needs to feel safe and to come out of his shell.”

Louie would do well in a home with another cat of similar age and temperament.

Hi there!

I’m Meg and I am a female domestic shorthair cat with white fur and lovely brown and orange markings.

I was in a shelter north of the city but recently came to live with my foster parents, their 10-year-old daughter .

I am quite the explorer and a very skilled climber. I love windowsills, high shelves and finding new spots to snuggle up and nap in. Though no longer a kitten, I still love to play when the mood strikes me.

I also like to supervise my foster mom’s work by lying on her computer desk and laptop.
I’m very loving and enjoy being picked up and cuddled.

Moving was a big change, but every day I come out of my shell a little more. I love attention and will meow to let you know it’s time to play. I am okay alone at home.

I have definite food preferences, but I eat well. I always use my litter box.

I get along well with other cats but I’ve never been around dogs. I would do well with children who are older and treat me with respect; too much noise and activity can make me nervous.

A note from Meg’s foster mom: “Meg is an energetic, playful and loving kitty who loves people and. She would do well in a quiet home that would give her all the love and attention she deserves.”

Meg would do well in a calm and quiet household.

Meg needs to have a kitty companion … one of same age and energy

If you are interested in adopting, this is how the process works! ☺️

Step 1 – Application
Interested in adopting an Abbey Cat? Please fill out our online application today!
An adoption counsellor will be in touch within 24 hours.

Please feel free to call our phone line 416 284 2140 if you require assistance with the application.

Step 2 – Interview
An interview will take place, and if your cat-owning philosophy fits with ours, we’ll arrange an appointment for you to meet your potential cat at their foster home via Zoom.

We are not a shelter with a single location or building. Abbey cats live with their foster families in homes throughout the G.T.A. As a result, our cats are much healthier, happier, and sociable.

Depending on the location of the foster home and subject to the availability of the foster parent, it may take some additional time to set up a meeting between you and your new friend.

Step 3 – Meet Your New Kitty!
When meeting your new cat at their foster home, we need to have the whole family present for the zoom call. During the zoom, we will ask you to turn the camera around and let us see your space.
Please don’t clean up! We aren’t interested in your style or housekeeping but looking to help with cat proofing.
We do the same with our foster homes to ensure the best fit with cats and help to highlight the best areas in the home for the cat, along with potential dangers.

The foster parent will answer your questions about the personality of this particular cat or kittens. They will also be able to tell you the type and schedule of food the cat has been eating, their litter preferences, and what toys they like.

If everyone is in agreement that this is a good match, the adoption contract and adoption donation are submitted electronically and arrangements are made for picking up your new cat(s).

A cat carrier with a metal door is essential for the cat’s safety – and yours – during the transport to your home.

Abbey Cats is like no other rescue group out there. We care passionately about the cats in our program and treat them with the same love, respect and care that we show our own.

We believe we adopt to the top 10% of pet owners – those whose philosophy matches with ours and who are prepared to make the long term commitment involved in living with a cat.

If you care about finding a cat that has been given the best care, the best diet and the most love since the hour it entered our program, then take the time to work with one of our adoption counselors so that together we will find the perfect cat for you.

We are highly knowledgeable about what constitutes excellence in cat care and want to adopt to people who believe, as we do, that their cat is a valued and valuable member of their family.
