Gracie has been through so much in her young life.
This sweet three-legged girl survived hardships no dog should ever have to face. Then, when she needed it most, a kind-hearted doctor saved her life, cared for her, and helped bring her all the way to Canada for a chance at a new beginning.
And today, watching her new mom come to pick her up โ hearing the gentle way she spoke to Gracie, seeing the tenderness in every touch โ was incredibly moving.
After everything she has endured, Gracie is finally surrounded by the love she deserves.
With only three legs, she never stopped moving forward. Now she is running toward hope, toward love, and toward her own happily ever after.

After Gracieโs long journey to Canada, we felt it was important to give her some quiet time to rest, decompress, and adjust. We also wanted the opportunity to observe her carefully in different situations and gain a fuller understanding of her personality and needs.
๐ We now feel that Gracie is ready to join her permanent home.
She is a truly wonderful girlโsweet, affectionate, cheerful, and full of life. She does, however, have the energetic and sometimes rough play style commonly seen in young dogs.
She is now living with two dogs in her foster home and is gradually learning better play manners and how to respond to other dogsโ boundaries.
She would likely do best with a confident, playful dog of a similar size or slightly largerโone who is comfortable with energetic puppy play.

Gracie is only one year old, but she has already been through more than any dog ever should.
She is a beautiful cream-coloured girl, weighing about 12.1 kg, with a gentle heart, a bright smile, and only three legs.
But please donโt feel sorry for herโGracie is not broken.
She is brave, sweet, loving, and so ready to become someoneโs beloved family member.

Gracie was failed by the person who was supposed to protect her.
When she was only about three months old, she was kept tied outside by her former owner. One day, she broke free and ran onto the road, where she was hit by a truck.
Her back leg was so badly injured that amputation was the only way to save her life.
When her former owner was told that Gracie needed surgery and medical care to survive, they did not choose to save her. Instead, they asked the vet to put her down because the treatment was too expensive.
But the vet looked at Gracie and saw a little dog who still desperately wanted to live.
He refused to let her story end there.
He saved her, treated her, and gave her the second chance she deserved.
After everything Gracie survived, her former owner still refused to take her home because she now had only three legs.
Gracie remained at the veterinary hospital, where the kind doctor continued caring for her as she grew.
And yet, Gracie is still here.

Gracie would thrive with a loving family that understands she is still a young dog and is willing to continue guiding her as she learns appropriate play and social skills.
Gracie could be very happy as the only dog in the home. She may also do well with a confident, playful dog of a similar size or slightly larger.
Because of Gracieโs energetic play style, she may not be suitable for very small, delicate, elderly, or medically vulnerable dogs.
Her family should also understand the long-term needs of a three-legged dog, including maintaining a healthy weight, providing appropriate exercise.

She needs patience.
She needs guidance.
She needs commitment.
Most of all, she needs a home.

She may have lost a leg, but she never lost her sweetness.

We named her Gracie because her life was saved by kindnessโand despite everything she has been through, she still carries so much grace in her heart.
