Seasonal Reminder: Daylights Savings!

It’s that time of year again where the days get shorter and the nights get longer- Daylight Savings! Remember that time will Fall back on the morning of Sunday November 1st, at 2:00 am local time. To be prepared, make sure that you set any clocks that aren’t automatically updated with the time change to one hour behind.

This is also a great time to remember to check your smoke detectors! With colder temperatures and longer nights, the heat gets turned up- along with the risks of heater-related house fires. Ensure that your smoke detectors are all in working order, and to change out any batteries that may not have been changed in a while. Make sure to also keep furniture, fabrics, clothes, and other household items away from heating systems to reduce the risk of a possible fire.

LADIES' LOUNGE - PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT

For those who have signed up / are interested in Ladies’ Lounge: *Program Change Announcement* -

Due to staffing limitations and other factors outside of our control, we have had to make some changes to the new Ladies’ Lounge program. The program is not going away, but it is changing slightly. Ladies’ Lounge will instead be special events for ladies in our local community to come enjoy.

Specific dates will be announced with the description of what the upcoming Ladies’ Lounge event will be, with registration opening soon after the announcement. This will allow for more wiggle-room in terms of how many people we can take at a time, as well making the events more elaborate than initial plans.

I want to extend a big ‘thank-you’ to Aisha Elgayar and the Community Centre Alliance for partnering with us through their new program- Empowering Newcomers: Belonging and Inclusion through Community Centre Alliance. This partnership plays a major role in making Ladies’ Lounge a possibility, and we are very grateful to have them involved in this new project.

We apologize for any disappointment or confusion this may cause, but rest assured that Ladies’ Lounge will still be happening- just differently than initially planned.
