Exciting start to day 2! Today, NETCO and Canada's Building Trades Unions reps were pleased to welcome The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for FedNor, and The Honourable John Zerucellii, Secretary of State (Labour), to the CBTU exhibit at the Skills Canada / Compétences Canada National Competition in Ontario.
Their visit highlighted the vital role that skilled tradespeople, apprentices, instructors, and industry partners play in building Canada’s future and they are listening.
As Canada focuses on housing, infrastructure, energy development, and economic growth, investing in skilled trades training has never been more important. The recent Spring Economic Update reinforced the need for a highly skilled workforce, and Canada’s Building Trades Unions and NETCO are ready to help meet that challenge together.
Across the country, CBTU-affiliated unions continue to invest in world-class training systems that produce highly skilled, safety-focused tradespeople prepared to deliver the nation-building projects Canada needs.
Thank you to both of them for taking the time to meet with labour and industry leaders and recognize the value of skilled trades education and workforce development.
Together, the unions of the CBTU and partners like NETCO are training the best, celebrating the best at Skills Canada, and building Canada.
