Chito-Ryu Karate was developed from two ancient styles of Okinawan Karate, Shorei Ryu and Shorin Ryu. The creator of Ch

ito-Ryu Tsuyoshi Chitose was a medical doctor who based Chito-Ryu on principles of human physiology. He discovered that some of the exercises and stances being used were detrimental to the health of the students studying Karate. Dr. Chitose's philosophy was also that Karate, as a self-defence system, should include throws and joint immobilization techniques. Today we continue to study and practice the art of Chito-Ryu Karate for health and self-defence.

Below is the list of events and dates for the upcoming 2026–27 karate season.

Please share these dates with your clubs and encourage your members to participate wherever they can. We have another busy season ahead, with plenty of opportunities for training, competition, development, and bringing our karate community together.

We look forward to seeing strong participation from clubs across the province throughout the season.

We're excited to welcome Yevhen Motovylin, Canada Coach and Head Coach of Karate Alberta, to the 2026 KNB Competitive Summer Camp.

The camp also includes kata instruction, making it a great opportunity for athletes interested in both disciplines. Participants will benefit from quality coaching, technical development, competition preparation, and a positive training environment for all levels.
