Today is World Pet Memorial Day, a time to remember the animals who left paw prints on our hearts and became cherished members of our families.

Ways to honor their memory:
• Share a favorite photo or story
• Visit a special place you enjoyed together
• Create a memory box or keepsake
• Light a candle in their honor
• Make a donation or volunteer in their memory

Their love, loyalty, and companionship remain part of our lives long after they are gone.

We are honoured to welcome the Mott Family as our 2026 Jason Zelward Physical Challenge Honorary Family.

On June 29, 2020, Anne Marie "Terry" Theresa Mott passed away, forever changing the life of her husband, Laurie, and all who loved her. Terry was known for her heart of gold, her kindness, and the deep love she had for her family.

Laurie began attending our Saint John Grief Café shortly after it started and has remained a dedicated member of our community ever since. Through sharing, listening, and supporting others, he has become an important part of the Compassionate Grief Centre family.

This year, we are proud to honour Terry's memory and recognize the Mott family's grief journey at the 2026 Jason Zelward Physical Challenge. Their story is a reminder of the lasting impact love leaves behind and the importance of community support after loss.

Please join us in welcoming and celebrating the Mott Family as our 2026 Honorary Family.

After loss, people often need more than words. They may need connection, someone willing to sit beside them in silence, support with everyday tasks, and the gift of time. Grief asks much of us, and care often looks like simply showing up, helping carry the practical, and staying present.

A cancer diagnosis can change life in an instant. Along the cancer journey, many people experience fear, uncertainty, and grief — not only those diagnosed, but also the loved ones supporting them.

At the Compassionate Grief Centre, we offer free and low-cost counselling for individuals facing cancer and the care partners walking beside them. You don’t have to carry this alone — our compassionate counsellors are here to listen and support you.

This program is made possible through the generous support of The Kindred Foundation.

If you or someone you love is navigating the cancer journey, we are here for you. Please give us a call at (506) 696-0202.
