A heartfelt thank you to Irving Oil for their generous donation of beautiful garden equipment, flowers, and outdoor seating to the Cancer Support Centre 💛

We are especially grateful to the Irving Oil team members who took the time to assemble and personally deliver these items. Their thoughtfulness and hands-on support have helped create a welcoming outdoor space that will be enjoyed by so many.

The Dr. Margot Burnell Cancer Support Program provides free support and wellness services for people living with cancer and their loved ones. Through offerings such as nutrition and cooking classes, movement and rehabilitation, mindfulness, peer support, and other wellness programs, we help individuals feel stronger, more connected, and less alone throughout their cancer journey.

These beautiful additions will enhance our space and provide a place for participants to gather, reflect, connect, and enjoy moments of peace and comfort. We know they will be appreciated for years to come.

Thank you, Irving Oil, for helping us create an even more welcoming environment for those we serve.

Cancer changed everything for Meliza Carpenter's family.

When her husband, Garry, was diagnosed with stage four melanoma, their world shifted overnight. Suddenly, life revolved around appointments, treatments, uncertainty, and trying to hold everything together for their young children.

As Meliza spent time in the oncology unit, she saw that every family's cancer journey comes with challenges beyond treatment itself. Financial pressures, emotional strain, transportation concerns, and the daily realities of navigating a diagnosis can affect every aspect of life.

That's why support for the Dr. Margot Burnell Cancer Support Program is so important. Made possible through donor generosity, it helps provide programs, resources, and support that help patients and families navigate the cancer journey with greater comfort, dignity, and connection.

Today, Meliza honours Garry's legacy through the Fundy Trail Cancer Walk. Her children, Lucinda and Little Garry, lovingly call it "Daddy's Walk" and already ask when they can do it again.

Their story is one of love, loss, resilience, and the power of community.

Please join us in welcoming Trish Kramer to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation team as our new Director of Annual Giving!

Trish brings extensive experience in marketing, partnerships, events, and stakeholder engagement, having worked with organizations including The JUNO Awards, Irving Oil, and global non-profit CDP. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about connecting people with meaningful causes and building support for initiatives that create lasting impact.

Her connection to our mission is also deeply personal. What happens when music, community, and compassion come together? Incredible things. 💙

We are deeply grateful to Kelly Galbraith, Healing Voices and everyone involved in the inaugural You've Got a Friend Concert, which raised an amazing $9,341 in support of the Cancer Support Centre.

Held at St. Mark's United Church, this special afternoon of music celebrated friendship, resilience, and hope while bringing our community together to support those affected by cancer.

At the heart of the event was Healing Voices, a welcoming choir created for individuals who are undergoing or have experienced cancer treatment, as well as caregivers, family members, and supporters. Under the leadership of Kelly Galbraith, the choir provides a space where music becomes a source of connection, healing, and strength.

Thank you to Kelly, Healing Voices, the performers, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who attended and donated. Your generosity helps ensure that individuals and families facing cancer have access to vital support services when they need them most.

Cancer survivorship is about so much more than finishing treatment.

It is about rebuilding strength. Finding connection. Feeling seen. Learning how to live again after everything has changed. 💛

This Cancer Survivorship Day, we are honouring every patient, survivor, caregiver, clinician, volunteer, and donor who helped build the Dr. Margot Burnell Cancer Support Program into what it is today.

What began as a grassroots vision for whole-person cancer care has grown into a trusted, hospital-connected support program that has helped more than 1,000 patients and family members find hope, healing, and community.

We are deeply grateful to The Arthur L. Irving Family Foundation and Irving Oil whose founding generosity helped make this 100% donor-funded program possible, while recognizing Dr. Margot Burnell’s extraordinary leadership and commitment to compassionate, survivorship-focused care.

Because of this community, patients are reminded every day that they are not alone.
