It's time to show some care for the water source that has been looking after our city for generations! 💧
Join the Loch Lomond Watershed Cleanup Drive on Oct 17-18 and help keep this watershed healthy. There are two ways to take part:

1️⃣ Join us for a beach cleanup at Florida Beach on Oct 17, 9 AM to 12 PM.
2️⃣ Clean up your own neighbourhood and drop the garbage at our dumpster sites at McCoys General Store and Sands Road. You can pick up supplies from our team at the Florida Beach cleanup.

🐠 What a day for fishing! Thank you to everyone who came out with so much energy last week!

We started by hauling out the fyke net we'd set the day before, then paired up for seine net fishing. Our catch sparked conversations on fish habitat, invasive species, water quality, and how urban settlements affect the fish below the surface.
In the end, our young anglers helped release every single fish back into the water, waving goodbye as they swam off. 🐟👋

We'll be creating a piece of green infrastructure that filters stormwater, reduces flooding, and brings native biodiversity right into the neighbourhood. 🌊

Summer may be behind us, but we're still basking in the glow of everything our team accomplished this season! ☀️

🧡 Every year, orange shirts appear across the country on September 30th, a simple visible reminder of a history many among us are still learning to face.
This painful past entails stories of children who were taken away from their families and sent to residential schools. Some never made it home. Those who did carried their stories forward, and that pain hasn’t stayed in the past.

There is no reconciliation without confronting the truth. Therefore, we must continue to listen, learn, and sit with the discomfort of a history that can help shape our futures for the better.

We work on the traditional, unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik, Mi’kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati peoples who have stewarded this land immoral, and acknowledge the deep connection between land, water, and community.

🥾This treasured wetland in Saint John is the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll with stunning views. You certainly don’t have to choose between treeline trails and the beach - you can enjoy it all!

Let's continue celebrating the Musquash MPA's 20th anniversary by discovering its incredible biodiversity! Using the iNaturalist app we will be exploring Black Beach for plants and other wildlife, some of which can be hard to spot elsewhere, thanks to the region's conservation status! 🌊🦀
