Ashraf and Julia had a wonderful time teaching students all about water quality monitoring and local ecosystems at Tucker Park Beach. 🌊

Through hands-on activities, students learnt how to measure pH, conductivity, and other parameters in our water bodies! ⚡🌡️

Huge thank you to Tucker Park Recreation Association for having us. We always love to educate and connect with all members of our community! 💙

Big thanks to the Environment Trust Fund; their funding support is enabling us to amplify our educational programming and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.

🐟Today, on we reflect on the critical need to protect our local salmon rivers and their habitat.
At ACAP Saint John, we have been actively monitoring wild Atlantic Salmon in the Irish and Black Rivers as part of our long-term mark and recapture study.

This allows us to estimate the local salmon population and better target our future restoration efforts. Additionally, we collect genetic samples from each fish captured, helping us dive deeper into the specific stressors affecting their populations. 🌊⬆️

With the Atlantic Salmon population dwindling, every stream we restore and every sample we analyze is a step toward ensuring a brighter future for this species. ✨
