PG Humane Society At the PG Humane Society, we rescue and rehabilitate abused, neglected, and abandoned animals.

We provide surrendered, rescued and stray animals with a safe, loving environment to live, rest, and heal as they await their forever homes, while focusing on supporting remote and Indigenous communities with limited resources and access to veterinary care through programs and services aimed at reducing pet overpopulation; additionally, through our Adoption and Humane Education Center, we offer educational programs for children and adults to foster compassion toward all living creatures.

Prince George! We Need Your Help!

We’re Looking for more Foster Families 🐱

We’re incredibly grateful to our current foster families. Their dedication, compassion, and willingness to open their homes make a life-changing difference for animals in need.

Recently, we’ve had an influx of animals needing foster homes, and many of our dedicated fosters are already at capacity. We’re looking for new families to join our foster community.

Foster Opportunities

🍼 Bottle-Feeding Fosters

Experienced fosters and beginners are welcome!

* We can teach you how to bottle-feed kittens.
* Kittens may need feeding every two hours, including overnight.
* Availability depends on each kitten’s age and needs.

🐱 Nursing cats and Kittens

Have a spare room? You can provide a safe, quiet space for a mama cat and her kittens.

We’re especially looking for fosters who can commit to a minimum two-week stay for our youngest kittens.

🐾 Respite Fosters

A temporary home gives shelter cats and dogs a chance to:

* Decompress
* Feel safe
* Relax away from shelter noise and stress

Even a short-term commitment can make a meaningful difference.

Already Approved to Foster?

If you’re on our foster roster but haven’t heard from us, please call 250-640-7415, Ext. 1.

We’d be happy to connect you with an animal in need when a suitable placement becomes available and help you find an opportunity that fits your availability.

*EDIT** NORTH HAS GONE INTO FTA 🐾🩷

🌟 It’s North’s turn to shine! 🌟

We’ve talked a lot about North’s nine puppies and how much they need homes, but now it’s time to put the spotlight on their amazing mama!

North just turned one year old and has already raised nine puppies of her own. She’s still so young herself, and now it’s her turn to experience life as someone’s beloved companion!

North is a wonderful medium-to-large-sized girl, and we suspect she may be some sort of Husky-Collie mix, although we can’t say for certain. When she first came to us, she was quite skinny and her coat wasn’t in the best shape. Thankfully, she’s made some wonderful progress, and we’re so happy to see her looking and feeling better!

So, what’s North like?

This girl is VERY people-focused! She loves everyone, is incredibly affectionate, and would be a dream for someone who wants a dog to cuddle with. She loves giving hugs and will happily try to climb right into your lap, despite being a pretty decent-sized girl!

North is also incredibly smart and responsive. She genuinely seems to want to be a good dog, and we think she has so much potential to learn. Since she spent much of her life outdoors, she’s still working on some of her manners. Her enthusiasm can get the best of her, and she’s known to have a little jumping routine when she first gets outside (we’re working on it, we promise!). But once she settles in, she’s an AMAZING walker. She walks at almost a perfect heel and frequently looks back up at you to check in. With consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement, we think she could blossom into an incredible companion.

North may fill out a little more now that she’s growing up and once she’s spayed, but she shouldn’t get much taller. In our experience, she’s also been quite tolerant of grooming!

North is pretty dog-friendly, although she can be selective. A proper meet-and-greet with any potential canine siblings would be needed to make sure they’re a good match.

We think cats may be promising for North, as she is easily redirected. However, any introductions would still need to be handled carefully and gradually.

Unfortunately, the shelter environment has been hard on North, and we’ve been seeing her decline. She desperately needs the chance to decompress somewhere quiet, feel safe, and have someone focus on her for a change. She has so much love to give, and she deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and just be a dog.

North has spent her short life growing up and raising babies. Now it’s her turn to be someone’s baby.

If North sounds like your girl, we’d love to hear from you! She’s looking for her forever home, but even a few weeks of respite in a quiet home could make a world of difference for her.

Our pups could really use a couch to crash on!

We’re looking for homes for some of our very pent-up pups to give them a much-needed break from shelter life!

Many of our dogs have been with us for a long time, and unfortunately, shelter environments can take a toll on even the best dogs. The constant noise, activity, and overstimulation can make it difficult for them to relax and truly be themselves.

That’s where our Couch Crasher Program comes in! You can “sign out” a dog who’s a good fit for your home and give them a little getaway for the weekend. It’s a great way to help them decompress, enjoy some home comforts, and get a much-needed break from the shelter.

We have one special guy in particular who could really use some time away: Sid!

Sid is a lovable, happy-go-lucky boy who loves just about everyone and everything. The only problem? This guy has SO much energy that he’s been bouncing off the walls at the shelter, and a cut on his paw keeps reopening because he just can’t seem to slow himself down!

We think Sid would really benefit from some time in a home where he can relax, decompress, and give that paw a chance to heal. We think he could do well in a home with cats and older kids who can handle his normal puppy energy.

Could you be the one to give Sid a weekend away?

You can meet Sid during business hours at our Lansdowne location at 4011 Lansdowne Road, or come meet any of our other pups who may pique your interest! They could ALL use a little break from shelter life.

Ready to help a pup out? Apply to our Couch Crasher Program here:

https://form.jotform.com/PGinfo/couch_crashers

If you have any questions, feel free to call us at 250-640-7415 ext. 1.

Sometimes, a weekend on the couch with a little extra love can make all the difference for a shelter dog. Help us give these pups the break they deserve!

A heartfelt thank you to the generous family who recently hosted their event at Kinsman Hall and chose to make a donation to the Prince George Humane Society. ❤️🐾

We are truly honoured that you thought of us. There are so many worthy causes, and knowing that your family chose to support our animals means so much to our entire team.

Your kindness helps provide food, shelter, medical care, and a second chance for animals who need us. Behind every donation are lives being changed, and your family is part of that.

Thank you for opening your hearts and making such a thoughtful gift. We are deeply grateful for your support. ❤️
