Bridges Pre-Employment Program - is a specialized program designed for women to overcome barriers to employment. Eligibility Requirements:

-Woman 17 years or older
-A resident of BC and Canadian Citizenship or Landed Immigrant Status,
-Unemployed, or working less than 20 hours per week, or on income assistance (IA, PWD, PPMB), CPP Pension Disability, or E.I. (not health or maternity related)
-Not

attending Secondary or Post Secondary School Full Time.
-Not already registered or enrolled in another Employment Program or recently completed an Employment Program (some exceptions may apply)
-Currently able, wanting and seeking employment

Program Information:

-6-10 week pre-employment program generally offered over three days per week
-Personal and job skill development
-Self awareness and self esteem
-Communication Skills
-Healthy relationships
-General and career assessments
-Career and employment exploration
-Resume and cover letter writing
-Workshops presented with guest speakers, videos and hands on activities
-Basic Computer Skills, Food Safe, First Aid (Level 1), WHMIS, World Host,Serving it Right
--Follow up job coaching and work search support
-Support and Referral Services
-Snacks, beverages, and fun
-Bus tickets, and Childcare subsidy available for those who are eligible

Program Benefits:

-New or updated occupational certificates
- Improved resume (design and details)
-Clear goals and an action plan
-Additional training, work certificates, or work experience (available for those eligible)

Program Procedures:

-Application intake in office to screen for eligibility
-Second intake to complete required paperwork
-Complete an individual action plan
-Attend and participate in orientation(s)
-Attend daily workshops


*Please note: Before acceptance into the program can be confirmed, applicants are to complete two intake appointments with the Bridges Co-ordinator. The Prince George and District Elizabeth Fry Society is proud to offer this program in partnership with Work BC and the Ministry of Social Development.
