Another meaningful step in our Food Security Partnership 🙌

Today, UNAC Prince George joined the Canning Circle (EAT Collective) alongside PGPIRG to support hands-on food preparation, community engagement, and contribute jars to their efforts.

Beyond the contribution, we spent 3 hours volunteering, sharing, and learning with an incredible group of community members.

We began with a short reflection on how the work of EAT and the Canning Circle is actively addressing food insecurity in town, and participants naturally connected their efforts to the Sustainable Development Goals 💚

It was inspiring to see professionals from different fields, dietitians, forestry experts, chefs, and more, bring their unique strengths into collective action.

I am here to inspire and get inspired, to connect and leave a positive footprint in the world __ Jhoan Chavez

Thank you to the entire Canning Circle community for the warm welcome and for the important work you do every day.

Join their team on Mondays (5PM–9PM). Timelines are flexible, and all contributions are welcome. See you there 🤠

We’re proud to share that UNAC Prince George has completed our first SDG engagement session with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul 🙌

Together, we connected local action to global impact, highlighting the goals that resonated most with participants:
SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being), SDG 6 (Clean Water & Sanitation), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions).

After joining in hands-on kitchen work to support the community, we also shared a short SDG awareness moment.

This is just the beginning. By working alongside organizations already making a difference, we’re helping bring the SDGs to life right here in Prince George.

If interested in volunteering with the St Vincent de Paul Society or UNAC, please register online ssdppg.com or with us by leaving a direct message.

🌍🍲 Celebrating the International Day of Food on October 16 & the UN’s 80th Anniversary 🍲🌍
UNAC Prince George is proud to launch the Food Security Partnership, teaming up with St. Vincent de Paul Society and Everyone At the Table (EAT) Collective to support food security and community connection.
Together, we’re engaging volunteers, community members, and local organizations to address:
✅ SDG 1: No Poverty
✅ SDG 2: Zero Hunger
✅ SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
Through meal preparation, serving, storytelling, and awareness-building, this initiative strengthens a local food movement that includes:
🥫 Food Recovery: EAT
🍲 Meal Preparation: Canning Circle & St. Vincent de Paul
🤝 Community Service: Shared meals and conversations
SOME FACTS ------------> Local Impact: Every summer and fall, EAT and partners host the Gleaning Abundance Program, collecting surplus produce to reduce waste, tackle food insecurity, and minimize bear attractants, helping prevent wildlife conflict and protect local bear populations. This supports SDG 2, SDG 12, and SDG 15: Life on Land.
We’re excited about this partnership and our shared commitment to building a more sustainable, inclusive, and responsible community.

💙 Join us in celebrating food, dignity, and solidarity.
