. Meet today’s Mojo😻

Name: Mojo
Age: 5 years
Breed: Domestic Long Hair
Colour: Brown
Location: Petsmart Stockyards

Meet Mojo - a shy, gentle girl who is looking for her purrfect home. Mojo was rescued from a hoarding situation, where she lived outdoors with many cats. Since being rescued Mojo is still trying to find her mojo but with a little time and love, we know she will.

Mojo is still cautious with humans, but she enjoys gentle pets and rubs. Food is the way to get her mojo going - she happily accepts treats right from your hand and Catit tube treats.

When she’s not searching for treats, you can find Mojo tucked away in the cozy cubby of a cat tree.

Mojo has a bit of a limp when she walks, but that doesn’t affect her mojo! She walks and jumps when she wants to, without any discomfort.

Mojo is the sort of girl who doesn’t demand attention, but will quietly observe until she’s comfortable. She would do best in a quiet home with someone who is patient and is willing to let her blossom at her own pace. Mojo won’t find her mojo on her own, so she needs a home with a fur-iend.

If you think you can give Mojo back her mojo, then come visit her at Stockyards! Please complete our online application found at: https://www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.

Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.

Adoption fees are $250 for each adult cat 1 year or older. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.

Please keep Azari in your thoughts today. ❤️

Azari is only one year old, but she has already endured more than most animals ever should. Rescued from the Dominican Republic with a broken leg and broken jaw, she later came to Canada where vets discovered a hole in her palate that causes chronic infections and constant sneezing.

She already went through one surgery that unfortunately was not successful. Today, Azari is undergoing a second surgery with a specialist, and we are hoping this will finally give her the chance at a healthy, normal life.

Despite everything, Azari remains incredibly sweet, cuddly, playful, and full of love. She deserves the opportunity to heal, find her forever family, and live the life every cat deserves.

We are asking for donations to help cover the cost of her surgery and care. Rescue is overwhelmed with medical cases right now, and we truly cannot continue without the support of our community.

If you can donate, share, foster, adopt, or volunteer, every bit helps.

Thank you for supporting Azari and believing in her future. Please send all the positive thoughts and prayers her way today.

Meet today’s Arlo!! 🩶

Age: 2 years 4 months
Breed: DSH
Colour: Blue
Location: Foster Home Durham

Arlo was born into a very large outdoor colony. In her time living outside, Arlo became a mom and she even helped take care of all the other kitties in her colony. She's a good mommy and loves to care of the cats around her. Arlo’s babies have already found their forever homes and she is ready to find hers.

In her time in foster, Arlo has been learning to trust and love humans. She prefers the companionship of females but will thrive the best in a quite calm household. She would be very happy to go to a home with other cats (especially if she had some brothers to play with). She loves to spend her time cuddling and playing with cats, she really comes out of her shell! When you get to watch Arlo play with other cats you feel such joy knowing that she gets to finally be free and playful after being a momma.

Arlo enjoys sitting in the window sill sunbathing and she loves cat towers or beds. When Arlo has a space where she feels safe she loves to be pet and will start purring up a storm! The quickest way to Arlo's heart is with wet treats and by calling her a pretty girl! While she may take some time to warm up to you, when she feels safe to do so Arlo is the sweetest girl you will ever meet.

Would you like to make Arlo a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.

Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.

Adoption fees are $250 for each adult cat 1 year or older. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.

Meet today’s Hux! 🧡🤍🧡

Name: Hux
Age: 2 years 4 months
Breed: Domestic Shorthair/Mix
Colour: Orange/White
Location: PetSmart Stockyards

***Hux is a lover and enjoys the company of sedate cat friends matching his chill temperament. He must be adopted to a home where cat buddies await his arrival.

This happy-go-lucky cat is always ready to play! Hux is ready to become your household white noise machine (the first thing you'll notice about this handsome orange cat is his constant, steady purring). Between that, his beautiful trill, and a few meows here and there, Hux will always let you know how he's feeling (that feeling is almost always happy).

Hux is looking to settle down after an early life of adventure outside. His time as a colony cat came to an end after a run-in with a coyote. The encounter left him with scars on his back, but in Hux's words..."You should see the other guy!" Every time Hux retells the story, the coyote gets bigger.

Hux's wound has healed, though it'll take a while before the fur around it fully grows back. For everything he's been through, Hux remains confident and unafraid around new humans and other cats. Since his time as a colony cat, Hux has sought after new cat friends to bond with. He would be a good fit in a home with other cats who are open to welcoming him into their circle.

Hux's favourite toys are balls, springs, and a Cat Dancer (likely he'll go wild for wands, too). If nobody's around, he will whack his ball across the room, making his own fun. Hux is also a climber. In his foster home, his favourite hang-out spot was atop the fridge. He often naps in his cat carrier too, so make sure he has a quiet, dark space to tuck away to recharge. Hux also is a big fan of cardboard scratchers, among his favourite objects to loaf on!

Surprisingly, Hux isn't as crazy about treats as he is for his regular meals. He'll chase at a single kibble long before he touches a tube treat. This makes him very easy to wrangle when needed (without something to lure him in, he's a slippery one)!

In addition to being pet behind the ears, on his face, and all down his back, Hux loves a good brush.

Although Hux was diagnosed as FIV+, most FIV-infected cats don't show symptoms and can live a happy life. They have a normal life expectancy, though may be prone to other infections. Proper nutrition (good quality, high protein food) and regular vet check-ups will promote and maintain the cat's health. FIV cannot be transmitted through sharing food and litter boxes. It is only transmittable through deep bites, not a likely scenario where this lover boy is concerned.

Hux eagerly awaits his next adventure, with you, your cats, and many happy days ahead!

Meet today’s , Felix and Kane, sweet and easy-going boys who have learned the hard way that there’s no place like home 🏡 ❤️

Name: Felix (M), Kane (M)
Age: 3 years
Breed: Felix-Domestic Medium Hair; Kane-Domestic Shorthair
Colour: Brown tabby
Location: West Scarborough PetSmart, 2050 Eglinton Ave. E. at Warden Ave.
For more information: avacats.org/adopt

Felix and Kane have always known the pleasures and comfort of homelife. Sadly, their owner had to move to accommodate a special needs child and the new landlord refused to allow cats, so Felix and Kane were surrendered to AVA. They clearly miss living in a home with a family and hope to be adopted soon.

Felix is a beautiful boy with soft fluffy fur and big sad expressive eyes. Kane is also very handsome with green almond-shaped eyes and a perfectly outlined pink nose, although he’s not as easy to capture on camera as photogenic Felix. 🐱

Felix and Kane are all-round lovely cats. Unassuming and undemanding, they are appreciative of any attention and love you give them and reward you with quiet purrs and head butts. They are both a little subdued as they get used to life without their home and family. They show some interest in wand toys and enjoy watching birds and mice on cat TV. They use their litterbox faithfully and groom fastidiously after eating. They co-exist peacefully but don’t interact with the other cats in the adoption centre. Mostly, they just want to go home and will perk up once that happens.

Felix and Kane are gentle souls who will come into your life softly, quietly take over your heart and before long it will feel like they’ve always been there, providing warm and easy companionship. They would do best in a relatively quiet home without small children. Their new family will need to take care to keep them indoors as they were allowed to go outside in their previous home.

Felix and Kane have always had each other and must go home together. You can meet them in person at the West Scarborough PetSmart at 2050 Eglinton Ave. E at Warden Ave.

Would you like to make Felix and Kane a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form

Meet today’s Bijou! 🤎🤍

Name: Bijou
Age: 1 year 1 month
Breed: Domestic Shorthair/Mix
Colour: Brown
Location: PetSmart Lawrence Centre

Bijou may have puppy-looking eyes, but don't be fooled into thinking they are sad eyes, he is very content and unconsciously uses his eyes to good effect. He is a bit more cautious than his brother Bailey, and takes more time to be convinced that people = good food, yummy treats and intriguing fun games.

He hangs back to watch his brother Bailey try to capture the wand feathers, and It's only a matter of time before he will be playing with the wand as well. Bijou is very smart and can quickly figured out toys, especially if the rewards are treats! Both brothers like to play ping pong with the resident cats underneath the pet guard separating the foster room from the rest of the house. Bijiou is an advance player and will round up passed balls to shoot them right back under the pet guard. The boys take to new games and toys with innate curiosity and intelligence, and will prove to be highly entertaining and likely trainable with the right incentives.

Bijiou loves his dry food and will gladly lick Churu off fingers. With more time, patience and treats, Bijou will graduate to settling closer to his humans and allowing pets. The boys were rescued off the streets as young cats, and have instinctive ambivalence where people are concerned. We do not know their back story, but whatever negativity they encountered in the past have to be gradually overlaid with good associations and pleasant interactions.

Bijou is seeking a patient, understanding and open-hearted family to bond with. He wants you to know that the shy, skittish tendencies are façades he hide behind because he is not sure just yet. But if you give him the grace of space and time, he promises to work really hard to get to that happy place where you can be his best friend for life.

Would you like to make Bijou a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: https://www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form
