Those things matter. But a strong Sunday program isn’t enough on its own. We’re called to be a church, not just run a ministry. Every part of the church has a role in helping children grow in faith.

There’s a place for kids ministry, and Sunday mornings should be engaging. But if we want to see lasting faith, we have to think beyond Sunday and consider how the church and home work together.

This Sunday we celebrate Pentecost, the moment God poured out His Holy Spirit on His people. It’s a gift we should never take for granted. Because of the Holy Spirit, we are not left to follow Jesus in our own strength. God Himself is present with us, guiding, convicting, comforting, empowering, and shaping us into the likeness of Christ.

Pentecost is also a reminder to slow down and ask: are we living in step with the Spirit?

At Scripture Union, one of our core values is seeking to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit by being submissive to His will and making His desires our desires. We believe God is in charge of this ministry, so listening for His leading is part of how we serve, make decisions, and walk faithfully each day.

May we be people who are attentive to the Spirit’s voice and willing to follow where He leads.
