St. Paul's on-the-Hill Community Food Bank

St. Paul's on-the-Hill Community Food Bank Our mission is to provide a nutritional supply of food in a welcoming and supportive environment to residents of the City of Pickering and Town of Ajax.

Established in 1990 as a temporary outreach program by some members of St. Paul's on-the-Hill Anglican Church, the food bank has outgrown several locations. Unfortunately, the need has not diminished over the years but the base has broadened. We now draw volunteers from across the local community. Over thirty individuals regularly donate their time and efforts to keep the food bank operating. We a

re also generously supported by many individuals, businesses and organizations. As we rely solely on donations, without the strong support of the community we could not continue to operate. The food bank is open to clients on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 10am - 12pm. (excluding statutory holidays)

TO OUR CLIENTS:
Please be sure to wear a mask upon entry of the food bank. Please bring your own shopping bag, as we do not have any on site. Thank you!

What an incredible example of community in action!

A huge thank you to the Fairport Beach Neighbourhood Association and the Pickering West Shore Community Association for choosing St. Paul’s on-the-Hill Community Food Bank as one of the beneficiaries of this year’s West Shore Community Yard Sale & Charity BBQ.

Thanks to the generosity of residents, shoppers, donors, volunteers and organizers, an amazing 165 pounds of food and $308.80 in cash donations were raised to help support local families experiencing food insecurity. And an additional $2,000 was presented to us from FBNA!

These donations will go directly toward stocking our shelves and ensuring our neighbours have access to nutritious food when they need it most. Every can donated, every dollar given and every person who stopped by the event made a meaningful difference.

Community events like this remind us that when neighbours come together, incredible things happen.

Thank you to everyone who organized, volunteered, donated, attended and supported this wonderful event. Your kindness and generosity help strengthen our community and bring hope to those who need it most. 💚

Happy Father’s Day from all of us at the food bank! 💙

Today, we celebrate all dads, grandfathers, stepdads, foster dads, adoptive dads, single dads, fathers-to-be, and the father figures who show up with love, guidance, and support every day.

We recognize the many forms that fatherhood takes and the countless ways these special people make a difference in the lives of their families and communities. Whether through a helping hand, words of encouragement, quiet sacrifice, or unwavering presence, their impact is felt far beyond what they may realize.

To every father and father figure who nurtures, teaches, protects, mentors, and cares for others—thank you.

Wishing you a day filled with appreciation, love, and the joy of being surrounded by those who matter most.

Happy Father’s Day! 💙

💚 Community Champions in Action! 💚

A huge thank you to the girls of the 1st Ajax Rangers (ages 15–18) for choosing to support our community as their year-end service project!

These incredible young women organized both a food drive and a bottle drive, collecting an amazing 173 pounds of food and raising $200 in cash from returned bottles. Their generosity and dedication will make a real difference for local families experiencing food insecurity.

The Rangers have visited the food bank in the past to learn more about our work and it’s inspiring to see them turn that knowledge into action and give back in such a meaningful way.

A special thank you to their leader, Patty, who dropped off the donation today.

We are so grateful for your kindness, leadership and commitment to helping others. The future is bright with young people like you leading the way! 💚👏

Over the past two weeks, we have been incredibly fortunate to receive three generous donations totaling $5,500 from the Knights of Columbus. These contributions will go a long way in helping us continue our mission of providing food and support to individuals and families in our community.

The Knights of Columbus are truly a remarkable group of men with big hearts, unwavering generosity, and a genuine passion for helping others. Their commitment to giving back makes a meaningful difference in the lives of so many people who rely on our services.

On behalf of everyone at the food bank, thank you for your continued partnership, kindness, and dedication to our community. We are deeply grateful for your support and proud to work alongside such an outstanding organization.

👏 Thank you, Knights of Columbus, for helping us make a difference—together!

🌟🦸‍♂️ Introducing Lunchbox Heroes – A New Program at St. Paul’s on-the-Hill Community Food Bank! 🦸‍♀️🌟

We’re excited to launch Lunchbox Heroes, a brand-new program designed to help children access nutritious food during times when school meal and snack programs are unavailable.

While the program will run throughout the summer, it is also intended to support families during other school breaks, including Christmas holidays, March Break and other extended school closures.

💚 Become a Lunchbox Hero! 💚

You can support this new initiative by:
✅ Packing and donating a complete lunchbox
✅ Donating items from our most-needed list
✅ Visiting one of our community collection events

Many children rely on school nutrition programs during the school year. When schools close for summer and holiday breaks, that important source of food can disappear. Together, we can help ensure local children continue to have access to healthy lunches and snacks when they need them most.

Every Lunchbox Heroes bag is a reminder that our community cares and that no child should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

📍 Check out the poster for donation locations and collection dates.

This is more than a food program—it’s a community coming together to support our youngest neighbors all year long.

Because every child deserves a full lunchbox and a chance to thrive. 🍎🥪💚

William’s Run is an incredible event organized by parents who turned unimaginable loss into meaningful advocacy. After losing their son, William, to mental health illness, his family has dedicated themselves to raising awareness and supporting others through their grief.

William’s mom is one of our dedicated and compassionate food bank volunteers. Seeing how she and her family have transformed their pain into purpose is truly inspiring. Mental health affects so many people, yet far too many continue to suffer in silence. Events like this, and families like theirs, help shine a light on an issue that continues to carry far too much stigma.

It was wonderful to see so many people come together in support of William’s family and this important cause. It takes incredible courage and strength to share a story like this and advocate for change. In doing so, they are creating connection, fostering understanding and building a stronger sense of community.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please remember that you are not alone. There are people who care, resources available to help and hope even in the darkest moments. ❤️
