We want to introduce you this absolute sweetheart. Bagel came to us this week from our friends at Hamilton Animal Services after she was picked up as a stray. She is sweeter than a cinnamon-raisin.

An older lady like this does not belong in a shelter and luckily we had a wonderful foster home who has opened their home and hearts to her.

Bagel had her spay and dentistry this week and now will be settling into her foster home and we will get to know her. We do know that she is like an everything bagel - she’s got it all - a lovely sweet and friendly girl who has a hole lot of love to give.

After 367 days in our care, we are overjoyed to announce that our sweet boy Mr Pom Pom has been adopted.

Mr Pom came to us from a Quebec shelter as an owner surrender. He had severe dental disease and wasn't eating at the shelter likely due to pain. Luckily our friends at One Last Chance rescue advocated for this boy and he caught our eye. The wonderful Freedom Drivers got him to Durham region where he settled into his foster home.

He proved to be a wonderful, sweet and friendly boy very quickly. The wonderful staff at PetNation extracted all of his teeth late September and then he went up for adoption.

He had many applications over the months following but nothing ever worked out for him. He was doing amazing in his foster home and very much loved and doted on. One thing we know in rescue is that it is always worth waiting for the right application and this proved true about a month ago.

We received an application from a lovely man who lives alone and had never had a pet before. He had always lived with other people who didn't like cats. He wanted a companion and a friend and we knew that Pom Pom would fit those criteria perfectly.

He is so loved by his new dad and his family who live close by. They can not believe what a very perfect boy Pom Pom is. They really thought his foster mom was exaggerating but she was not. He is a perfect kitty.

Pom Pom will be the centre of the world for his new dad and be completely worshipped, loved and doted on and that is what he deserves.

Congratulations to Pom Pom and his new family. We love you beautiful boy xox

We wanted to give you all an update on Max.

You may remember that we posted him a few months back looking for a foster home after his family had to move away and leave him behind. We had a wonderful response with so many wonderful folks wanting to help him.

Soon after that we discovered that he was sadly Heartworm Positive. This is a fatal disease if left untreated. The treatment is harsh, painful and very expensive and the process takes 90 days to complete.

Max has happily completed this phase of the treatment. He is recovering very well and in a few months we will retest to see if the treatment was successful in killing the worms.

On another happy note, his foster will be adopting him as soon as he is medically cleared.

Thank you to everyone who reached out and who shared his post. And thank you to all of our supporters and donors who make it possible for us to be able to help sweet souls like MAX.

Little Queso is still looking for his forever home. He is now around 4.5 months of age and just a ball of sweetness.

He adores the dog and other cats in his foster home and we would like him to have another friendly pet in his forever home. He is a typical kitten - very playful and energetic and cuddly.

Please read his full bio here and message us if you have any questions about him! https://www.petfinder.com/cat/queso-bf02da0b-d5a9-4901-bd79-4b2da393de24/on/etobicoke/adopt-a-dog-save-a-life-on60/details/

Impossible to believe that Queso is still looking for his forever home

Queso and his brother Beans joined our rescue a few weeks ago all the way from Manitoba! He has been settling into his foster home and is doing great. Thank you to Alice Storey/Orphans of the North for sponsoring their flight and keeping them safe until they were ready to fly to Ontario,

Queso was born around April 1, 2026. He is a short-haired, black, beige and white tabby. He is a typical kitten - full of endless playful energy. He loves to chase and tumble with his brother. They are adorable and enjoy their cat toys and climbing perch.

He is friendly and social and loves people of all sizes. He shares his foster home with a large dog, cats and a child and is doing great with them all.

Queso would fit in almost anywhere but he must have another friendly feline in his home to keep him active, stimulated and happy. He would be great with a family or a single person. He would be suitable in an apartment or house. He must be kept as an indoor cat as we want him to have a long and healthy, happy life living inside being spoiled and loved.

Queso is a very young kitten and a commitment of (hopefully) 15-20 years so any adopter should consider this and be sure they are able to commit to his life long care.

Queso is up to date on all vaccines, has been dewormed and microchipped. He will require his rabies vaccine and third booster on approximately August 7th, 2026. He will have his neuter surgery at 6 months of age (October 2026) at one of our rescue veterinarians (Rexdale or Pickering). This surgery is included in the adoption fee but the adopter must be able to do the transport of the kitten on his appointment date,

Our adoption process includes an online application (see below), a telephone interview and/or virtual call, reference checks and a meet & greet with Queso in Oshawa. His adoption fee is $250.

If you’d like to give Queso a forever home, please complete and submit the application form: https://tinyurl.com/catapplicationform

We would like to take this opportunity to wish Pom Pom a happy 3rd birthday today!

We don't actually know when his birthday is but exactly one year ago today he made his way along the 401 from a Quebec shelter with the Freedom Drivers to his foster home in Pickering. So it seems only fitting to make his Freedom Day his birthday.

In the past year he has been loved and doted on just like he deserves. Today he will get an extra churro to celebrate his Birthday.

Happy Birthday beautiful Pom Pom. You are the very best and sweetest boy xo

This sweet boy is now fully vetted and ready for his forever home. He came to us from a Quebec shelter after his family surrendered him when they could no longer take care of him.

Coco is an adorable mini poodle. He is 9 years old and weighs about 10 pounds.

His foster family only have good things to report about Coco. He is well mannered in the home and loves to sit on the couch with his foster mom for cuddles. He enjoys playing with soft toys. Don’t let his age fool you! He loves to go for walks and is very active. He enjoys several walks every day. He walks nicely on leash and is excited to see other dogs. He meets other dogs in a nice way - with a sniff and no signs of aggression.

He is the only dog in his foster home so we are not able to say if he would be ok living with other dogs or cats.

Coco is in an adult home and we feel due to his age he is best suited to a home with older children.

He is quiet in the home but will bark to let you know when he has to go outside. He does well on a regular routine and goes out often for bathroom breaks. Coco enjoys spending time in their back yard but his preference is to do his bathroom business on a walk.

Coco’s is used to having some around during the day. We feel he is best suited to a home where he will not be left alone for long hours every day.

He is crate trained and is comfortable sleeping in his crate at night. He needs to be brushed frequently and will require regular grooming.

Coco had dentistry and many rotten teeth were removed. For this reason it is important that his food and treats are soft. He is up to date on his vaccinations and microchipped.

Please see our website (www.adoptadogsavealife.com) if you are interested in adopting Coco.

Our adoption process includes an online application, a telephone interview, a virtual or in-person home visit, reference checks and a meeting with Coco in Toronto.

An adoption fee of $500.00 applies.
