Please drop by Branch 606 to see what it's all about! You don't have to be a member to come into the branch, but new members are ALWAYS welcome!! Many people think that one needs to be a Veteran, or have a Veteran as a family member to join a Royal Canadian Legion branch, but this is not the case. Please speak with one of our lovely volunteer Bar Stewards while in the branch should you want more information about becoming a member. You can also reach out to our Membership Chair, Valerie at: [email protected] and she will be happy to answer any questions you might have about joining Branch 606. Branch 606 offers many activities, and has banquet hall and meeting room rentals for any number of functions. Please reach out to the Branch 606 Hall Rental Coordinator, Pauline for all the details you might need about our hall rentals. Pauline can be reached at: 905-420-5339. Please leave her a message if she is unable to answer when you call, and she will return your call. The branch hosts weekly progressive euchre games, cribbage games, shuffleboard, a dart league, and a seniors' snooker league, just to name just a few of the regular activities you will find. (Euchre, cribbage and shuffleboard are currently on summer hiatus for July and August of 2025.) In addition you are welcome to drop by to practise your snooker skills, or even find yourself an opponent to play against during non-leagues times. LOVE good music and dancing ---- come on out to the Clubroom for frequently scheduled live bands, and feel free to invite family and friends -- everyone welcome!! Check our weekly posts for pertinent dates and band names. The branch has karaoke every Friday night from 7 - 11 pm - hosted by Derek Sharp (also know as D-Rock), and there is always a crowd of wonderful singers and an enthusiastic and appreciative audience of listeners (and dancers). Branch 606 hosts an incredible Open Mic @606 (everyone welcome), from 2 - 5 pm. Please check weekly posts for respective Sunday dates for Open Mic. Come on in to Branch 606 - guests describe our branch as one of the friendliest branches they've visited - so drop by and check us out!

Here is your weekend update for the weekend of June 19th, 20th, 21st, along with some information about an entertainment change for Saturday, June 27th, and a poster from the Mustang Band about their upcoming performance at Branch 606 for Canada Day (July 1st).

Let's start with the weekend update .....

FRIDAY, JUNE 19th
Branch opens at 1 pm.

It's KARAOKE FRIDAY @606 from 7 - 11 pm. --- hosted by Derek Sharp --- and a great way to start any weekend!

You can sing, you can dance, you can cheer on your talented friends and neighbours, and Derek's extensive song catalogue and excellent sound system will make it a fun experience whether you are new to karaoke,or if you take to the karaoke stage regularly!
Everyone is welcome, and there's no cover --- so come on out and start the weekend on a high note (or low note - whichever suits your fancy)!

SATURDAY, JUNE 20th
Branch opens at 1 pm.

It's the Branch 606 Meat Draw at 5 pm. and everyone is welcome.
So invite some friends along, and try your luck!

Following the Meat Draw, the Steak & Wine Draw will take place (and entries for that draw can be purchased at your convenience throughout the week -- right up until the time of the Saturday draw).

SUNDAY, JUNE 21st
Branch opens at 1 pm.

Close out your weekend with SUNDAY KARAOKE @606 beginning at 2 pm.

Derek Sharp hosts a wonderful Sunday afternoon of karaoke -- and it is the perfect way to end the weekend!
Everyone is welcome, there's no cover, and the enthusiastic crowd makes for a great afternoon of song and dance -- so do feel free to ask some friends to join you!

Due to unforeseen circumstances the Burnt River Band reached out to advise that they are unable to perform on Saturday, June 27th.

However, I have been advised that David Wildsmith will be performing in the Branch 606 Clubroom from 7 - 11 pm. on June 27th, and you can find out a little about David and his music at this link:

And Mustang Band has created a poster for their appearance at the 🇨🇦 Branch 606 Canada Day celebration 🇨🇦 on Wednesday, July 1st.
This band is such a branch and crowd favourite --- and it will be a wonderful afternoon of music!

As planning moves forward and more details come my way about the Canada Day event I will share all the news with you ---- and as always Y'ALL will be the first to know ---- but rest assured it will be a great birthday party, everyone will be welcome, and there's no cover, so mark your calendars accordingly!

Branch 606, 1555 Bayly Street has a DINNER AVAILABLE FOR YOUR DINING PLEASURE TONIGHT -- Saturday, June 13th -- and it will be served around the usual time of 6:15 pm-ish (dependent on when the Meat Draw finishes, as always).

Branch opens at 1 pm.

The BRANCH 606 MEAT DRAW happens at 5 pm., and will have some delicious selections to purchase draw tickets for, so come on by and try your luck!
At the conclusion of the meat draw, the STEAK & WINE DRAW will take place, and some lucky entrant in the draw will be the lucky winner!
Everyone welcome to come in and take part in these draws, so feel free to invite some friends to join you.

The HOLD MY BEER band will be playing in the Branch 606 Clubroom from 7 - 11 pm.

This talented group will have the dance floor full, toes tapping while you sit in your chair, they bring an INCREDIBLE energy everywhere they play -- and it's going to be a wonderful Saturday night of music!

No cover, everyone welcome -- bring some friends out with you and enjoy the most amazing covers of all your favourite songs at Bay Ridges Branch 606, right here in Pickering!

Warm "kitchen party" atmosphere, talented musicians, and an enthusiastic crowd --- the Branch 606 Open Mic has some of the best impromptu music, and it is a wonderful way to end any weekend!

And, while I have everyone still reading ....... thanks to every single person who was able to make it out to the D-Day Service, and the big Branch 606 Centenary Celebration in honour of the Royal Canadian Legion's 100th anniversary.
We hope you had a wonderful time, learned a little more about the Branch in your community, explored some military history, enjoyed some food and live music, and felt welcomed by all of the volunteers who made this day so special!

And on THAT note .... thank you to all of the volunteers who made this party happen --- from its inception to the end of the day on June 6th --- it would have been impossible to do any of it without your assistance!!

Well here we are, at the beginning of the first weekend of June ...... and it's such an exciting weekend at Branch 606!

It's Karaoke Friday @606 .... hosted by Derek Sharp from 7 - 11 pm.
Derek's amazing sound system - an extensive catalogue of songs - some of the most talented people in the region who show up in the Clubroom to sing on Friday nights - and the most enthusiastic crowd ----- Friday night karaoke at Branch 606 is a wonderful place to start ANY weekend!

Everyone welcome. No cover.

ANNNNND Kathy F. called to advise me that there will be an IMPROMPTU "POP UP" BUFFET SUPPER available THIS EVENING, FRIDAY JUNE 5th!!!!

D-DAY SERVICE

This annual service hosted by Branch 606 in conjunction with the City of Pickering, allows all of us here to remember and honour those who were part of the D-DAY strike which changed the direction of WWII.

THE EXCITING AND HUGE BRANCH 606 ALL DAY EVENT IN CELEBRATION OF THE 100th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION is here ......

Please see in the photos below the itinerary that the Centenary Planning Committee has created, and come on out for any, or all, of this informative and fun-filled day for all ages.

The Branch looks forward to welcoming our members, community, neighbours, and friends to join us as we host this party, share a little about what the Legion - and Branch 606 - brings to the community, and enjoy a day filled with celebration of this momentous once-in-a-lifetime event.

Branch 606 is looking for volunteers for its 100th Anniversary celebration on Saturday, June 6th at the branch.

If you would like to be part of the "Volunteer Team" for this once-in-a-lifetime, milestone event, please attend the *information and planning meeting for volunteers* -- which is happening on:

Tuesday, May 26th at 7 pm --
at 1555 Bayly Street, Pickering.

This meeting is where you can find out more details about the various volunteer roles that are available for this incredible Centenary party, which is being thrown by Branch 606 in recognition of the legacy of the Royal Canadian Legion, and their service to Veterans, their families, and in communities across the whole country.

Everyone welcome -- volunteer opportunities are available to interested community friends and neighbours, as well as our Branch 606 members.

For your dining pleasure, a dinner has been added prior to the live entertainment TONIGHT (Saturday, May 16th) at Branch 606 at 1555 Bayly Street -- right here in Pickering.

Dinner will be served around 6:15 pm., (following the Meat Draw which begins at 5pm.), and BACK ALLEY PROPHET will be entertaining y'all from 7 - 11 pm. in the Branch 606 Clubroom.
