This summer, Cohort 26 of our Stepping Into the Executive Cadre (SIEC) program travelled to Montreal for its Study Tour, connecting with leaders from across sectors and organizations.

The Study Tour gives participants a unique opportunity to learn directly from executives and senior leaders outside the traditional classroom setting. Through candid conversations and first-hand perspectives, the cohort explored different approaches to leadership, decision-making, and navigating the realities of senior roles.

Canada's major projects challenge is no longer just about procurement and financing. It's about leadership.

Major public initiatives require leaders who can navigate governance, political risk, competing priorities, and complex collaboration while bringing governments, Indigenous partners, communities, and other stakeholders together.

That's why the Institute on Governance developed Public Sector Leadership for Major Projects, a 2-day executive program focused on the judgment and decision-making required to advance complex public initiatives.

Through Canadian case studies, executive exercises, and a Cabinet simulation, participants will explore how major projects are shaped, challenged, approved, and delivered.

The program is facilitated by Mairead Lavery, former President and CEO of Export Development Canada, and Glenn Campbell GPC.D, former Senior ADM with hands-on leadership in advancing major public projects and investments.

The Energy Transition Is No Longer an Environmental Debate.

It's an economic one.

Meet Todd Kuiack, a new Associate with the Institute on Governance.

A former Canadian Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Todd brings extensive experience in diplomacy, Indigenous relations, and public sector leadership.

He recently served as Director of Operations in Plans and Priorities and as Indigenous Champion in the Privy Council Office. At Canadian Heritage he was the first Executive Director of Reconciliation and Treaties and Engagement, leading his department’s actions on the Horizontal Working Group for MMIWG as well as Indigenous Co-Champion.

We're pleased to welcome Todd to the Institute on Governance and look forward to the expertise and perspective he'll bring to our learning and advisory work.
