General information
The project that the Shad Valley Laval team has brought forth is an NGO by the name of OIFS (Organization for Inuit Food Security). Since a major contributing factor to obesity in Inuit communities is the lack of food security, Shad Valley Laval came up with an effective way to address the problem. OIFS plans to introduce a solution by providing the Inuit people with healthy and fresh fruits and vegetables using the magic of hydroponics in the style of co-operatives. Members can buy shares from the co-op to obtain fresh produce at a cheap price, and we can even turn our competitors into partners by offering local grocery stores the chance to buy shares. The members of the community will be able to purchase the fresh produce directly from the greenhouse, rather than from a grocery store or market place. Thus, the Inuit people will be able to save their children from the epidemic of childhood obesity, while saving their wallets from over priced organic food. DISCLAIMER: OIFS is the product of a high school design challenge. It is not an actual organization. Sorry to disappoint.
