Happy Heavenly Birthday Charlotte ❤️

Our first birthday without you, and we wish more than anything that we could be celebrating with you today.

Last night, we kept our tradition going and decorated for your birthday, just as we always have. It was bittersweet, but we couldn’t let your special day arrive without making it feel special. ❤️

We keep thinking about your last birthday and all the little things that made you so special. We remember taking you out for dinner and singing Happy Birthday to you. When you later heard it again being sung to a woman at another table, you went over all on your own and excitedly shared, “It’s my birthday too!” You wished her a happy birthday and asked how her day was going.🥰

Even on your own special day, you wanted to connect with someone else and make them feel special too. 🥹

Today, we will spend the day together as a family, painting pottery, walking by the lake, enjoying some tiramisu (of course ❤️), and sharing stories about all the ways you touched our lives.

You deserved so many more birthdays with us but we will forever be celebrating you. 🥹

Happy heavenly birthday, our beautiful girl. ✨

We were thrilled to hear that our friend Stephanie and family was travelling through Orillia yesterday and was able to make a stop to deliver 18 bags to the POGO satellite clinic.

That’s now 100 kids who have received a Charlotte’s Smiles 4 Kids bag in the last 2 months. ✨✨

❤️

10/03/2026

Over the past two months, Charlotte’s Smiles 4 Kids Project has been busy carrying Charlotte’s love, kindness and big heart into hospitals across Ontario and beyond.

✨ 5 hospitals
✨82 bags delivered
✨28 Smile boxes sent to children across Canada

And we’ve started something new. 💗

✨Sibling Smile boxes

When a child has cancer, the whole family is affected—including the brothers and sisters who are watching, waiting, worrying and adjusting to a life that suddenly looks very different.

We’ve started providing hospitals with Sibling Smile boxes filled with special surprises just for siblings. Siblings can choose their own special surprise from the box - like Lego polybags, crafts, cute little Needohs.

It’s a small gesture, but one that says that we see them too.💗

Thank you to everyone who continues to help us turn Charlotte’s kindness into action. Every donation, every volunteer, every donated item and every shared post helps us reach another child and their siblings.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. 🎗️💛

Childhood cancer changes everything.

One day, your child is going to school, making plans, laughing with friends, and dreaming about the future.

Then, in an instant, you find yourself learning words you never knew existed, sitting in hospital rooms you never imagined entering, and trying to make impossible decisions for the child you love so much.

For our family, that child was Charlotte.

Charlotte was diagnosed with DIPG, an aggressive and incurable pediatric brain cancer.

Our family entered a world of appointments, treatments, hospital stays, hope, fear, and heartbreak. We quickly learned that childhood cancer is not rare when it is happening to your child and that far too many children and families are living this reality.

This month, we will Go Gold for the children who are fighting, for those we have lost, for the siblings and parents whose lives have been forever changed, and for the families who will hear the words “your child has cancer” tomorrow.

Awareness must lead to action.

We need more research. We need better treatments. We need more funding.
We need equitable access.
And most importantly, we need a future where children are not dying from cancer.

Childhood cancer is not rare. It is not just a statistic. It is children like Charlotte.

This September, please help us make childhood cancer impossible to ignore. 🎗️💛

💛 Let’s turn Oakville gold. 💛

On September 1st, Oakville Town Hall will shine gold in honour of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

We would love for you to join us to stand together, to show your support, and to bring awareness to the children and families whose lives have been forever changed by childhood cancer.

This month is deeply personal to our family. We will be thinking of our beautiful Charlotte, whose light continues to shine so brightly in all that we do. ✨💛

As the Town Hall lights up gold, we will remember Charlotte and all the children who have fought, who are still fighting, and who should never be forgotten.

Oakville Town Hall is at 1225 Trafalger Road. We will be there for 7:30pm.
Come shine gold with us. 🎗️💛

Today we went back. ❤️

Back to Charlotte’s home hospital and where Charlotte’s Smiles 4 Kids Project began, to bring a little bit of joy to children who have been diagnosed with cancer since we were last here to donate in March.

This visit of course felt different. We were there without Charlotte.

While being back without Charlotte was heartbreaking, the love she poured into this project continues to live on and make a difference. ❤️

We will keep going. For Charlotte and for all other kids fighting cancer who deserve all the love and moments of joy we can give.

It is with broken hearts that we share that our beautiful Charlotte passed away peacefully during the evening of July 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

There are no words that can truly capture the heartbreak of losing our sweet girl. Charlotte faced every challenge with extraordinary courage, kindness, and a heart that never stopped thinking of others.

Charlotte's light was far brighter than the time she was given. Her smile, her compassion, her strength, and the love she shared so freely will continue to live on in every life she touched.
We miss her more than words can say, but we are so incredibly proud to be her family.

Please keep us in your thoughts as we learn to navigate this unimaginable loss. In honour of Charlotte, we hope you'll continue to spread kindness and bringing joy to others.

With love,
Matt, Jen, Nicholas and Madeline
