Meet “Nikon”, Camp Maple Leaf’s photographer and digital strategist 👋 Nikon started here three years ago, and since then, has set out to tell the many inspiring stories of the campers, staff, and the mandate of the camp itself. We hope you have enjoyed seeing and hearing some of the magic that happens at camp.

With their help, we are able to provide fun and memorable camp sessions to children of Military Families, both serving and Veteran, across Canada. A big thank you to Jamie Thomson of Stifel Canada for making the trip to Camp Maple Leaf and spending some time with us at camp.

Jamie has visited Jacob Island many times over the years, and we’re incredibly grateful for his continued interest in our campers, our programs and the work happening here.

Today we wrapped up National Military Week at Jacob Island, where children of Military Families (serving and Veteran) were invited from across the country for a week of fun, friendship, and memories. For the first time in fifteen years, we brought back an old CML tradition: “Navy Seals” - a canoe race around the island, led by none other than our own Executive Director “The Falcon” (and Jasper the camp dog)! Thanks to all the campers, parents, and caregivers for putting your trust in us, and for making Camp Maple Leaf the special place it is.

Thank you, Alberta! 💙 We are always so happy to provide a “Home Base” for children of Military Families, serving and Veteran. Core memories were definitely unlocked this past week, and those friendships will follow them home.

This week is National Military Week, and we have invited children from Military Families (serving and Veteran) across the country to join us on Jacob Island. Our Camp for Military Children is made possible with the generous support of Veterans Affairs Canada. Thank you for your ongoing support!

We are so grateful for the ongoing support of True Patriot Love Foundation!

For a child from a military family, a week at summer camp is more than just a fun vacation. It can create new friendships around a campfire, instill the confidence to try something new, and provide the comfort of a community that understands.

Thanks to supporters like you, last year more than 1,300 children from military families had the opportunity to attend camps across Canada, like Camp Maple Leaf. Though there are still more children who could benefit from these meaningful experiences.

The fun continues during Week 6 at Camp Maple Leaf! All of our sessions provide our campers with unique life challenges a fun and exciting summer camp experience. From all the camp activities, to the Island Games, to Campfire, to Cookout, each summer brings new memories, and Friendships that Follow them Home.

Our Grief Support Team explains their important roles at Camp Skein, helping children navigate the death of a parent or sibling.

Camp Skein is a special program for children grieving the death of a parent or sibling. A “Skein” is the “V” formation of geese as they fly - the goose at the front does the most work, helping to support the ones behind them. As they get tired, they rotate, sharing the work to support each other. The campers in this program do just that: support each other in their shared experiences. A Grief Support Team works with the children throughout the week, but most of the time, it is an opportunity for the campers to just be kids. There is no shortage of fun at Camp Skein!
