FUNDRAISER ALERT: Dog Guides of Canada is proud to announce a new fundraiser lasting for the remainder of May in honour of it being National Pet Month! Our goal for this fundraiser is to raise $5000, which will be used for the variety of services that our organization provides, including breeding and caring for young puppies, buying them food and toys, vaccinating them, and of course training them to be guide dogs. As all the services we provide are free, we will also fly in and provide training to prospective guide dog recipients so they can fully take advantage of having a guide dog. But why choose us over other charities? Unlike many other charities, ours is one that provides a very specific service, one that no other organization can provide. Guide Dogs are an essential part of many disabled people's lives, and without them, going about their everyday business would be a struggle. In order to make sure we can provide a guide dog to anyone who needs one despite their financial status, we rely on donations from caring Canadians as we receive no government funding of any kind. As well as going towards our existing services, your donation would also help us develop new dog guide training programs that would benefit people with other types of disabilities or conditions besides the six we currently offer guide dogs for. This would potentially include assistance for the elderly and those with other types of mental disabilities Take a look at the infographic below to get a better idea of what your donation will go towards.

Two ways having a guide dog benefits those with disabilities:

1. Guide dogs are extensively trained to provide assistance to those with a variety of disabilities. From helping the visually impaired navigate obstacles to alerting a deaf person that someone is at the door, these dogs are a major safety asset for the disabled.
2. Just like with any household animal, guide dogs provide loving companionship for those with disabilities

Two ways Dog Guides of Canada makes that happen:

1. We provide world-class training for guide dogs from the time they are puppies until they are ready to be placed with a disabled person. At our two training facilities an Oakville and Bresau, we make sure all our dogs meet international standards when it comes to disability assistance.
2. All our services are absolutely FREE! Anyone who needs a guide dog will be provided with one free of charge, but we rely on donations from Canadians like you to make that happen.
