Dear Visitors,
We would like to take this opportunity to say congratulations. You have taken the first step on a journey of discovery and self-development. While you might feel some nervousness associated with trying something new, relax and enjoy yourself. Toastmasters is a safe place to observe, learn and have fun. When you feel you’re ready, you can get involved at your own pace. Public speak
ing is a tremendous life skill that you can develop quickly with the knowledge and practice gained through Toastmasters. It is our intent to make you feel comfortable and welcome. All guests are welcome! Visiting a club is an exciting first step in reaching your goals. There’s no need to feel pressure to participate at your first club meeting – you can simply observe if you wish. Upon arrival you will be welcomed by our greeter and paired up with another member who will introduce you to the club and guide you through the agenda. Trafalgar Toastmasters meets every Monday from 7:15pm – 8:45pm, at the Oakville Public Library (Central Branch Location), 120 Navy Street, Oakville ON, L6J 2Z4
If you are planning on attending as a guest we ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes before the meeting starts. You are welcome to come as our guest three times before committing to be a Toastmaster. You’re also able to sign-up as a new Toastmaster anytime during the year. We look forward to seeing you at one of our meetings. For information about membership, please contact our VP of Membership, Christine Shibley, at 289.400.9642, anytime. ABOUT OUR MEETINGS
During each meeting you will notice that each member is assigned a different speaking role. These roles are designed to help our members become better speakers, organizers and leaders. Members who do not have a role for the evening are encouraged to speak so that everyone participates at least once per meeting. You too will be invited to comment on the meeting at the end of the program, however it is not a requirement. Although all members participate at their own pace, the more one participates the faster they will grow and excel as a confident speaker. Although most meetings follow a set agenda, some meetings may be structured differently. One exception includes our contest nights which are held a few times throughout the year. These are a lot of fun to come and watch. JOIN US! We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. With Toastmasters you’ll find a supportive learn-by-doing environment that allows you to achieve your goals at your own pace. As a non-profit organization, all membership fees cover dues to Toastmasters International, supplies and room rental. Thank you for visiting our website and we hope to see you again. Regards,
Joseph Tam, VP of Public Relations, 2017-2018 Trafalgar Toastmasters Club, [email protected]
