Since its inception, Southlake Foundation has granted $93.8 million to Southlake, transforming our Hospital from a small regional Hospital to the world class healthcare facility that it is today. Funds have been generated for medical equipment, capital projects, patient programs and staff education - all for the goal of creating a hospital that meets the expectation of excellent outcomes for our family members, friends and neighbours. At Southlake, we are committed to creating an environment in which our patients can have the confidence of expert care delivered by a compassionate team who truly puts the patient first. A lofty goal perhaps, but one to which our commitment is unwavering. At the Southlake Foundation, we believe that transparency and accountability are essential to our success. With that in mind, we were one of the founding members of Imagine Canada’s Ethical Code Program, a national program which requires that charities adhere to the highest standards of accountability in their relationships with donors. As a donor, it is important for you to know that a portion of your gift will be allocated to cover Foundation expenses necessary to raise millions of dollars annually and to help support the Hospital’s priority needs not covered by other funding. The Southlake Foundation Board establishes and monitors the allocation amount as part of the annual budgeting process. Our sincere appreciation to the generous donors who share our vision. Thoughtful and compassionate care can make all the difference in a patient’s journey.

We’re proud to celebrate Sandra Y., a member of Southlake’s Inpatient Surgery team, who was recently recognized through the Heroes of Southlake program by a grateful patient.

For more than five years, Sandra has supported patients before and after surgery, enabling their recovery and providing education on mobility, nutrition, pain management, and what to expect along the way. Working alongside her amazing team, Sandra is committed to providing safe, inclusive, patient-centred care.

Reflecting on the recognition, Sandra shared how meaningful it was to know her work had made a difference in a patient’s experience.

“This means a lot to me, and I am honoured to be recognized. I am grateful to have inspired impact in this way and feel a huge sense of pride.”

Monique almost postponed her routine mammogram. Today, she’s thankful she didn’t.

Her screening at Southlake Health revealed stage one, triple positive breast cancer — a very aggressive form that would have progressed significantly had she delayed her screening.

Just minutes from her home in Newmarket, Southlake’s Regional Cancer Centre became an important part of her journey through surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.

“I had no idea how big of an impact Southlake was going to make on my life,” shared Monique.

Today, Monique is cancer-free and grateful for the compassionate care she received close to home.

Stories like Monique’s remind us why advancing cancer care for our communities matters. Through donor support, Southlake replaced three linear accelerators for radiation therapy and added a fifth to its fleet, helping eliminate wait times for radiation therapy.

That impact is something we can all be proud of, but we’re not done yet.

We’re less than 2% away from reaching our $23 million HERE is Where Cancer Meets its Match Campaign goal.

Southlake Health Foundation was thrilled to host over 900 guests on Saturday at our record-breaking 2026 Here and Beyond Southlake Gala, presented by Treasure Hill. Our communities came together in a powerful way for patients and families, raising $4.7 million (and counting!) for diagnostic imaging and image-guided intervention at Southlake Health.

Our immense gratitude to everyone who made this impressive result possible including: our Presenting Sponsor Treasure Hill and all our generous sponsors of the night, our Southlake Gala Steering Committee volunteers with special thanks to our Gala Co-Chairs Lina Bigioni and Lia Fidei, our thoughtful and generous donors and supporters who attended the event, and our Southlake Family of physicians, staff and volunteers who came out strong to demonstrate their support.

In 2022, 48 year-old Melanie — a wife, mother, and business development professional, went for a mammogram after experiencing some breast pain, and was quickly diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma — the most common form of breast cancer.

“I was in utter shock. I’m young! I’m healthy! This happens to other people,” shared Melanie.

Luckily, Southlake’s Regional Cancer Centre is less than 10 minutes from Melanie’s home, and she was able to receive her radiation treatment and surgery close to family, and without the burden of travel.

This past September, Melanie celebrated 3 years with no evidence of cancer, and continues to give back to Southlake as a volunteer with Southlake Foundation, and participant in the Run for Southlake.

“I don’t say I’m in ‘survivorship’ – I tell people I’m in ‘thrivership’ because that’s what I intend to do.”

This October, you can support those affected by breast cancer in our communities, by ensuring access to leading edge cancer care, close to home at Southlake Health.

October is here, and with it a new month of Upcoming Events by our Community Champions, in support of Southlake Health!

Grab a meal at for their Spirit Day on Tuesday, October 27! From 10:30am to 10:00pm, a portion of all in-restaurant sales will go toward supporting urgent needs across the hospital.

Every weekend in October, the York Simcoe Express is going Pink in the Rink! Join them for fundraising activities all month long in support of breast cancer care at Southlake.

From October 5 to 10, celebrate the Birthday Celebration! Proceeds from all AizadFood sales support Southlake’s Maternal Child Program.
