York Region Makers established 2015

York Region Makers is the result of the four founders having met through two Meetup.com groups. Each of the founders having an interest in the maker movement and entrepreneurship observed that there weren’t any community accessible facilities in the York Region area that provided the services of a makerspace.

The team established a not-for-profit corporation with a focus on supporting grassroots innovation and entrepreneurship through operating interdisciplinary collaborative spaces in the York Region. NewMakeIt is the first such space operating within the Town of Newmarket.
