The family and friends of the late Suzy Hamilton are pleased to announce that Jessica Hewitt is being honoured with this year’s Suzy Hamilton Legacy Award.

The cash award is presented annually to a female-identified or non-binary volunteer environmental activist in the West Kootenay region, who embodies the environmental and social activism for which Suzy was known.

The committee is also honouring Shanoon Bennett, with the extension of the award meant to recognise the enduring dedication of a female or non-binary champion of the environment.

Osprey welcomes the Salmo Valley Public Library to our nest, as our newest agency fund!

If you’d like to support the library in a lasting, sustainable way, while also receiving a tax receipt, donating to its agency fund with Osprey is a great option that benefits everyone!

An agency fund is a long-term endowment that generates annual income for the organization, providing flexible, reliable funding that can be used wherever it’s needed most.

When community foundations gather, something powerful happens.

This past weekend, a group of board members and staff, representing six different communities in the West Kootenay region gathered to share actionable insights and build relationships that strengthen the entire sector.

Stronger connections lead to smarter solutions and more resilient communities.

Thank you to Connect BC and Vancouver Foundation for sponsoring this event.

Cottonwood Creek is flowing a little cleaner this spring, thanks to a stewardship project to restore riparian and stream habitat in a lower section of the creek. The Cottonwood Creek Revival project is a partnership between Living Lakes Canada , Friends of Kootenay Lake Stewardship Society and the Nelson and District Rod and Gun Club.

Volunteer Creek Cleanup events held last fall resulted in over 200 kg of trash being removed from the watershed and ongoing water quality and monitoring continues.

Osprey Community Foundation is proud to contribute to the project's long term goal of restoring Cottonwood Creek to a healthy, functioning habitat and community asset through a 2025 Community Grant.
