Thank you for being such a caring and generous community. Our Food Bank shelves are healthy once more thanks to the donations made through the School's Out Food Drive last Saturday. The food has gone directly to The Salvation Army of Napanee and Morningstar Mission for our Food Banks which support people in our community facing food insecurity.

On top of the food donations, we would like to thank L&A Mutual Insurance Co. for donating $10,000; community members who took part in the Saturday BBQ raising over $3,500; Nofrills for donating all of the food for the BBQ fundraiser, and to Metro, Walmart, and Nofrills for allowing us to collect food donations at their locations. A very special thank you to the volunteers who gave of their time to collect donations and to everyone in the community for their generosity.

All monetary donations were split between The Salvation Army and Morningstar Mission. If you missed us at the Food Drive, food donations are ALWAYS welcome all year long!

A big thank you to Eric and the kind folks at Chuck's Roadhouse Bar & Grill! They're doing a bit of a restaurant reno so they brought us a carload of vegetables and dairy which filled our serving counter. Thank you so much for thinking of us and making this wonderful donation which will go a long way for our community meals.

Would you like to start volunteering with us at Morningstar? We can’t wait to get you started, but there are a few details to take care of first.
Steps to Becoming a Volunteer

1. Speak with Olivia
Olivia, our Volunteer Coordinator, is in the office Mondays and Thursdays from 9-4 if you would like to speak with her about roles and availability. Stop in, reach out online, or give our office a call at (613) 354-6355

2. Complete a Volunteer Application
A volunteer application package must be completed prior to volunteering with us; a package can be picked up anytime Monday – Friday from 9 – 4. The application process also requires a police check which is conducted at no cost with a provided letter from Morningstar. Note: A record of previous offences does not necessarily mean an applicant will be disqualified from volunteering.

In anticipation of poor weather on Friday, we have put out free clothing and other items today instead! Items will be available until around 1:30pm or so. We are also having our free community lunch at noon today if you'd like to join us for a delicious meal.

Free clothing and other items are usually available on Mondays and Fridays from 12:30pm until 2:00pm, weather permitting. If the weather is decent on Friday, we will still put out clothing.

The School's Out Food Drive in support of The Salvation Army and Morningstar Mission is coming up on Saturday, June 6. We are eagerly anticipating lots of grocery donations to fill our food bank shelves.

In the meantime, we are completely out of the following items: jam, peanut butter, pasta sauce, canned corn, and cookies.

If anyone could help bridge the gap until June 6 with grocery donations, we would be very grateful!

Donations can be brought to the main office on Mondays through Fridays from 9am to 4pm.
