Rugged Coast Research Society

Rugged Coast Research Society The objective of this project is to map plastic debris along BC’s west coast and inventory the type, quantity and locations of plastic debris.

The map created and data collected will be used to inform and prioritize clean-up efforts. The Rugged Coast Research Society is a newly formed (2017) Nanaimo based society developed to research remote coastal habitats along the BC coast. Research results will be shared with stakeholders, and the public, that may want to use the results to better understand our coast and protect it. The Rugged Coas

t team is comprised of marine industry professionals, marine biologists and entrepreneurs who share a passion for surfing and fishing. Our team members have been exploring the coast for many years and have the experience and equipment required to successfully conduct research in remote coastal habitats.
