💜 Loni Update 💜 June 16th
If strength had a face, it would be Loni's.
She remains in ICU, but there is good news to share. Yesterday, doctors removed 4 litres of fluid from her right lung. As Loni put it herself, "That's insane!" Thankfully, everything else is moving in the right direction. Her incision is healing beautifully, her bowels are working well, and while her potassium, magnesium, and white blood cell count are a little low, the medical team is monitoring everything closely.
Loni has asked me to pass along her heartfelt thanks. The love, encouragement, messages, shares, prayers, and donations have lifted a huge weight off her shoulders while she's unable to work. Whether you've given $10, $20, $50, or simply shared a post or sent a kind note, you are making a real difference.
She also wants her students to know that she misses you dearly. Every morning, her thoughts go straight to her horse and to all of you. She can't wait to get back to doing what she loves most.
The care she's receiving from the doctors and nurses has been nothing short of outstanding, and she is incredibly grateful.
Through it all, she's still smiling. So, let's keep smiling with her, keep sending our love, let's keep donating, and keep the fight going. 💜🐎💜

Wow. We are already at $1,348!
What blows me away isn't the total—it's the people behind it.
We've had donations of $20, $30, $50, $100, and an astounding $500.
Different amounts. Same message:
"Loni, we've got your back." 💜
A special shout-out to my Uncle Steve in Washington State, who donated again yesterday. His $50 US became $68.06 Canadian. ❤️

💜🩷 🐎🐎 Okay, Team Loni — let’s do this! 💜🩷 🐎🐎

Loni has now been in the hospital for over a week, and as you can imagine, that means she has been unable to work during this time.

Yesterday brought a bit of a scare when she was moved to ICU but today is looking much more positive. The medical team is draining fluid in her lung lining, and we are hopeful she’ll be out of ICU and back on the road to recovery and back home with her two boys as well as her students very soon.
If you’ve ever met Loni, you know she is one of the strongest, kindest, and most determined people around. She has spent years helping others, and now it’s our turn to help her.
I’m personally kicking this off with $50. Who’s going to join in with me?

💜💗 SOME PEOPLE ARE SIMPLY EXTRAORDINARY 💗💜
This past weekend brought another unexpected challenge in Loni's cancer journey.
While staying with her sister and working with students in the Campbell River, Courtney area, Loni became seriously ill and was admitted to Campbell River Hospital. On Sunday, she underwent intestinal surgery, and thankfully, the surgery was a success.
Loni is now recovering, regaining her strength, and preparing for her next immunotherapy treatment on June 18.
She would like to extend her heartfelt gratitude to the incredible medical teams at Campbell River Hospital and her oncology teams in Nanaimo and Victoria for the outstanding care she received.
In Loni's own words:
"I had a bowel resection and a complete blockage. My oxygen levels were very low and I was in immense pain, within 15 minutes of calling the ambulance they had me admitted and running diagnostics to try and find the cause. The care I received was exceptional. The surgical team and nursing staff at Campbell River Hospital were truly remarkable, and I am so grateful for their swift response and outstanding care."
To all of Loni's students, please know that you are never far from her thoughts. One of the things that keeps her moving forward is the hope of getting back to teaching, encouraging, and sharing her love of horses with each of you. 🐎🖤 🐎🤎
Through every challenge, Loni continues to show incredible courage, resilience, and grace.
The finish line is in sight, Loni, and we can't wait to see you cross it. 💜💗

Loni is not giving up — and neither are we.
Her fourth treatment is coming up on May 21, and Ripple Effects has enough to cover that one. But we are now scraping to cover the remaining treatments and the specialist calls helping guide her care. Some of those calls are about $800 USD, which is even more in Canadian dollars.
This is such a critical stretch. The scans may be showing tumor regrowth, but there is also a possibility of pseudo-progression, where immunotherapy can cause inflammation that looks like growth while the treatment may be getting to work. Right now, they do not know for sure.
What we do know is this: Loni needs help. She needs support now so she can focus on treatment — not the financial fear around it.
$2, $10, $20 is all it takes to change a life. And right now, every donation truly matters. 💜

Yesterday, we spent time with Loni out at the horse stable as she shared a heartfelt update on her health journey and the immunotherapy trial treatments she’s receiving in Nanaimo. She’s fighting hard, staying hopeful, and doing everything she can to get through these final treatments before the drug company kindly takes over the cost moving forward.

I honestly don’t even know how to put this into words right now. 💜

Over the last two days, the love, support, shares, messages, donations, and encouragement for Loni and Ripple Effects have been overwhelming in the most beautiful way.

More than 4,000 people have viewed our post, and together over $600 has come in through Ripple Effects and GoFundMe. To some people that may not seem huge, but to us, it means everything. Every share, every kind word, every dollar truly helps more than you know.

When you’re going through difficult health challenges, emotionally and financially, it can sometimes feel very heavy and very lonely. Then suddenly your community wraps their arms around you and reminds you that people truly do care.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for seeing Loni. Thank you for supporting Ripple Effects. Thank you for reminding us that kindness still exists in this world.

Well… Ripple Effects has been a little quiet lately—and for good reason. Loni 💜 and I have both had a few health hiccups, but here’s the important part… we’re getting back up and getting back on track.
Loni is doing incredibly well with her immunotherapy. A few tough days here and there (as expected), but she’s handling it all with that beautiful smile of hers—honestly, that smile could light up a whole arena. She truly is an inspiration for all of us. And yes… she’s still going to work. I don’t know where she gets it, but I want some of it!
She’s heading into round four of immunotherapy and through it all, she stays focused, positive, and full of love for her boys—especially with her son home from hockey school this past month. That’s her happy place 💜 with her boys.
Now here’s where we can all step in. We’ve got about two treatments left to fund—roughly $6,000 each. So, if you’ve got a toonie, a $10, or a $20 hiding in your pocket… this is the moment. Every little bit truly makes a difference. It takes a little from a lot of us, that is what makes it all work. It’s easy, e-transfer to [email protected]
