That’s a wrap on another pumpkin season! 🎃

A HUGE thank you to Nanaimo Fruit and Vegetable Company for hosting their 2nd Annual Pumpkin Fundraiser in support of our Food4Schools program! Every dollar raised goes directly toward helping provide food for local students.

And thank you to everyone in our community who came out, picked up a pumpkin and supported this amazing fundraiser. Your generosity helps keep Food4Schools running and makes a real difference for students across our District.

Nanaimo Fruit and Vegetable Company is now closed for the season, so we’re sending them off with a big thank you! See you next season!

What is Food4Schools? 🍎

Food4Schools helps schools provide food to students every day, supporting breakfast, lunch and snack programs across the Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District.

Almost 2,100 students participate in school meals programs supported by NLSF. We work closely with school staff to make sure food is available where it’s needed, with enough for anyone who needs it and inclusive options that work for different students and schools.

Behind the scenes, there’s a whole community making it happen, from food donors and local vendors to volunteers, school staff and community supporters. Together, we’re helping ensure students have access to food so they can focus on what matters: learning, growing and thriving.

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to listen, learn and reflect on the lasting impact of residential schools and honour the resilience of Survivors, their families and communities.

At NLSF, we remain committed to learning and walking the path of truth and reconciliation together.

Our office will be closed on September 30th in recognition of this day.

A scholarship can be so much more than financial support. It can be part of a much bigger story.

For one of our scholarship recipients, the impact of a great teacher inspired them to pursue a career in education themselves. Now, as they head to university, this scholarship is helping make that next step a little more possible.

One teacher inspired a student. That student hopes to inspire the next generation. And with the support of our generous donors, that ripple effect can continue.

🚐✨ Big news for Food4Schools!

We’re excited to share a first look at our new NLSF delivery van — the next step in strengthening how we support students across our community. 💙

This van will soon be fully branded and outfitted with racking and refrigeration, helping us safely and efficiently deliver food to schools throughout Nanaimo and Ladysmith.

Every upgrade like this means more reliable deliveries, fresher food, and ultimately more students supported each day. 🍎🥪
