London Fire Fighters Pipe Band The LFFPB competes in PPBSO sanctioned events and performs in parades, ceremonies, and special events in the London region of Southern Ontario.

The LFFPB is the non-competitive performance and teaching arm of the "London Ontario Pipe Band", a registered not-for-profit corporation in Ontario, Canada. Throughout the year, the LFFPB performs in parades, ceremonies, and other special events

in the London region of Southern Ontario, Canada. At the same time, the LFFPB operates a school of piping and drumming providing instruction to learners, and opportunities for developing pipers and drummers to develop their musical skills in a group context. During the summer months, many of our members also participate in numerous competitive band competitions, which are held at various Highland Games venues throughout Ontario. The competitive arm of our organisation currently participates in in the Grade 5 and Grade 4 levels. Pipers and drummers of all experience levels are welcomed by the London Ontario Pipe Band organization. All players are encouraged to learn and perform with the LFFPB, and interested individuals may also be invited to play competitively. The LFFPB is proud to assume the name of our primary sponsor, the London Professional Fire Fighters Association (LPFFA). The LPFFA is the bargaining unit for employees of the London Fire Department. The LPFFA was established in 1918 as Local 142 of the International Association of Fire Fighters, and represents approximately 400 full-time fire fighters and officers, communications operators, fire inspectors, support staff, and administrative personnel. The band is not affiliated with, or supported by, the London Fire Department or the Corporation of the City of London.

That’s a wrap on the 2026 competitive season!

Our Grade 5 band closed out the season at the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games, taking the field alongside 10 other bands and proudly finishing 4th.

We’re also celebrating some strong solo results from our members:

• Graham Carroll: 4th, Grade 5 Tenor and 6th, Novice Bass
• Alexander Helsen: 6th, Novice Piobaireachd
• Mike Tucker: 2nd, Grade 5 Snare March, Adult
• Shaun Tucker: 2nd, Grade 2 6/8 March, 4th, Grade 2 Strathspey/Reel and 5th,
Junior Amateur Piobaireachd A
• Doug Turvey: 5th, Novice Bass
• Amelia Watterworth: 1st, Practice Chanter, Novice March

A special congratulations to Amelia, who competed in her very first Highland Games competition today. What a way to get started. Well done, Amelia!

We also want to recognize our other soloists who registered to compete today: Matt Angus, Fraser Gibson and Patrick Potter.

With the competitive season now behind us, our bands will take a well-earned break until Labour Day, when we’ll kick off our Fall Parade season.

Our teaching program is also in the works and is expected to resume later in September. Keep an eye on our page and website for details coming soon.

One final practice. One final push.

Our Grade 5 band has put in a tremendous amount of work this year, and this week was no exception as they get ready for tomorrow’s Fergus Scottish Festival.

The music is coming together, the focus is there, and now it’s time to have some fun and enjoy the day.

Good luck to our Grade 5 band tomorrow. Play hard, play together, and give it everything you’ve got!

Today at the Glengarry Highland Games in Maxville, the London Fire Fighters Pipe Band, Grade 4, placed fifth in a highly competitive field of 17 bands at the North American Championship.

We delivered one of our strongest performances of the season and are proud of the progress we’ve made through months of hard work, steady improvement, and a commitment to refining our sound and performance.

Congratulations to our soloists on their performances at the Glengarry Highland Games.

A special congratulations to Shaun Tucker, who earned 1st place in Grade 2 Jig B, 4th place in Grade 2 March B, and 6th place in Grade 2 Strathspey & Reel B.

We also want to recognize the dedication of our other solo competitors who made the trip to Maxville on Friday. Congratulations to James Arthur, Graham Carroll, Mike Tucker, and Alexander Helson for representing the band in the solo events.

A sincere thank you to our families, friends, sponsors and everyone who supported us throughout the season. Your encouragement, patience, and presence at practices, competitions, and events mean more than words can express.

We will take what we’ve learned, build on it, and come back even stronger next year.

Congratulations to all the bands who competed today. It was an honour to share the circle with you.

Our final tune-up is complete.

Last night’s practice at the hotel and the ride to the field this morning are all part of the journey to the Glengarry Highland Games in Maxville. This is the North American Championship. It is the competition we’ve spent months preparing for.

Every rehearsal, every adjustment, and every run-through has led to today. Now it’s time to step onto the circle and give it everything we’ve got.

These photos captured by Laurie McAndrew show our Grade 4 band hard at work as we fine-tune our medley in preparation for the Glengarry Highland Games next weekend in Maxville.

When poor air quality from the Northern Ontario wildfires made it unsafe to rehearse outdoors, our plans changed at the last minute. Thanks to the Dorchester Optimist Youth Centre, we had a great indoor space to keep preparing, and we’re very grateful for their support. Thank you, Laurie, for capturing these moments!

Very disappointing news. 😔 We’re hopeful that the Cambridge Scottish Festival and Highland Games will return to its regular schedule in 2027. Wishing everyone involved the very best, and we look forward to seeing the games return.

Just 9 days before the event, the Cambridge Scottish Festival Committee has notified the PPBSO of the cancellation of the games for 2026. No reason was given at this point for the cancellation.All registered soloists and bands are being advised by email and will, in due course, receive any entry fee...
