We’re collecting serviceberries (Amelanchier spp.) to support our Community Tree Nursery! Serviceberry trees are up to 25 ft tall, have small white flowers in the spring and are currently bursting red or dark purple berries. Collecting these berries helps us grow more native trees and directly supports our hands-on seed processing and seed sowing in the nursery.

Please email [email protected] to coordinate drop-off before arriving on-site, or if you’re unsure if you have a serviceberry tree in your yard. Happy collecting! 👩‍🌾🫐

💦Why Trees Matter, and Why Watering Them Matters Even More:

Trees make our city healthier, cooler, and more connected. But young trees need consistent care, especially as summers become hotter and drier.

When we water newly planted trees, we help:
-Improve survival rates in their most vulnerable early years
-Strengthen root systems so trees can grow deep and resilient
-Support faster, healthier growth
-Increase shade and cooling in our neighbourhoods
-Reduce urban heat and improve air quality
-Create habitat for birds and pollinators
-Build greener, more livable communities for everyone

As summers get hotter, without enough water, many of these trees won’t make it.
That’s why we’re investing in a water tank for our truck so we can bring water directly to the trees that need it most, when they need it most.

Another fulfilling weekend tree giveaway at the Western Fair Market with our friends from Convertus, together we successfully distributed over 200 trees to our local community. Participants were lucky to take home a variety of apple trees, Flowering and Silky Dogwoods, and Tulip trees. Thank you to The Market at Western Fair District for hosting us.

Join us at Gathering on the Green this weekend for our last tree giveaway of the spring season. Pick up your tree in the morning, and stop by our community booth in the afternoon to chat with our volunteers.

Exciting update - we're bringing our Spruce Spree fundraiser on the road!🚚 Visit us at the Masonville Farmers' Market this Friday, June 5th, from 8:00am - 1:00pm to pick up your saplings. If you're looking for a natural privacy fence, windbreak, or to spruce up a bit of land, we've got a deal for you: $25 for 10 White Spruce saplings!

Order ahead at spruce-spree.square.site, and select Masonville Market as your pick-up location. All proceeds go towards supporting our planting and growing programs at ReForest London.

Please note, this is the only species available at this sale, and limited quantities available on-site.
