RNAO Middlesex-Elgin Chapter

Yesterday, members of the Middlesex-Elgin Chapter attended the 12th Annual Memorial event hosted by the London Homeless Coalition at Covent Garden Market.

This meaningful community gathering brought people together to honour and remember individuals who have lost their lives while experiencing homelessness, while raising awareness of the ongoing challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness in our community.

As a gesture of remembrance and hope, our chapter donated daffodil bulbs to those in attendance to commentate the lives lost and honour their memory. Our chapter chair, Janet Hunt, shared a couple of words to those in attendance.

We are grateful to have been part of this important event and to stand alongside community members and organizations in solidarity, compassion, and remembrance.

As members of the RNAO, we recognize that housing is a fundamental social determinant of health, and we remain committed to advocating for dignity, equity, and the well-being of all members of our community.

On October 1, representatives from RNAO visited Western University’s Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing as the School continues its journey in being recognized as an RNAO Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO).

The BPSO program supports health-care and academic organizations in building cultures grounded in evidence-based practice through the systematic implementation and evaluation of RNAO Best Practice Guidelines.

During the visit, RNAO representatives got to learn more about Western University's school of nursing while nursing students also had the opportunity to connect with RNAO, learn more about the BPSO program and Best Practice Guidelines, and discover ways to become involved with RNAO throughout their nursing journey.

The RNAO Middlesex-Elgin Chapter was happy to be part of the day and connect with the next generation of nurses as we continue to advance evidence-based nursing practice in our community. We look forward to following Western's BPSO journey!

Join members of the RNAO Middlesex-Elgin Chapter in remembering and honouring members of our community who have lost their lives due to homelessness. On Thursday, October 8, we invite our chapter members to join us at the 12th Annual Soup N’ Bread and Memorial Event, hosted by the London Homeless Coalition. This meaningful community gathering is an opportunity to come together in remembrance, recognize the dignity and humanity of those whose lives have been impacted by homelessness, and show our support for individuals experiencing homelessness in our community.

Our chapter joined in on the Nurses’ week festivities and gave back to our members at our annual self-care event at the Sunningdale Golf&Country Club. Guests enjoyed a breakfast, keynote talk from Pauline at YourHealthSpace on self-care in the work environment, laughter yoga, guided meditation, art therapy, and lots of surprises! We thank all of our participants and to our guests leading these breakout sessions. Thank you to all who joined us! We look forward to seeing you at future events, stay tuned!
