πŸ₯ Healthcare workers: London needs you, and many of you have chosen to stay!
We're looking for healthcare professionals who came to London for training, work placement, or temporary positions - but fell in love with our community and decided to make it home.

Maybe they came for medical school at Western. Perhaps they started as a visiting nurse. Or they joined our hospitals during a critical time and discovered London's welcoming healthcare community.

These stories matter. They show how London becomes home for people who heal and care for others.

Do you know a healthcare worker with a "chose to stay" story? Nominate them for our 2025 I Am London campaign!

From Temporary to Tenured: Academic Stories We Want to Share πŸ“š

London's academic community includes brilliant people from every corner of the world. Many came here "just for now" - for a degree, a research position, or a short-term opportunity.

But something happened along the way. They found research collaborators who became lifelong colleagues. They discovered teaching opportunities that lit up their passion. They built networks that supported both their work and their lives.
They chose to stay.

For our 2025 I Am London campaign, we want to celebrate academics who turned temporary London experiences into permanent academic homes. Their stories show how our city supports not just education, but entire academic careers.

Do you know a professor, researcher, graduate student, or university staff member whose story fits this theme? Someone who came to London temporarily but decided to build their career here?

We want to hear from you! Nominations close June 30.

London's business community grows stronger when people choose to stay! 🏒✨
You probably know someone with this story: they came to London for school, work, or family reasons. Maybe they planned to leave after a few months or years. But something about our city made them change their plans.
Now they're running businesses, creating jobs, and contributing to what makes London special.
Our "I Am London: Chose to Stay" campaign wants to celebrate these journeys. Know someone who fits this story? We'd love to hear about them!

Great news for skilled workers wanting to call Canada home!

The government just shared how its new Express Entry system is working. It now has special categories for people with skills Canada really needs - like healthcare workers, tech professionals, and skilled trades.

This means if you have experience in these areas, you might have a better chance of getting an invitation to apply for permanent residence.

Tonight, June 6th, marks four years since London lost a London family to a terrorist attack fueled by anti-Muslim hate.

The Youth Coalition Combating Islamophobia invites our entire community to join in prayer at 8:30 PM at Peavey Mart on Hyde Park Road. Please park at St. John's French Immersion Catholic School.

Choose love over hate, and unity over division. All faiths, all backgrounds, all hearts are welcome.

Tonight, we pray as one family.

πŸ“Š London's Hidden Superpower: We Keep the People Who Come Here

Here's a fact that might surprise you: 75% of people who came to London temporarily have chosen to stay permanently.

Think about that for a moment. Three out of four people who came here for school, work, or as refugees decided London was where they wanted to build their lives.
This isn't happening by accident. Behind every number is someone who:

Found community here
Built relationships that matter
Discovered opportunities to grow
Felt welcomed and supported

What makes London special? It's how we welcome people, connect them to resources, and help them see a future here.

Want to learn more about what's driving this trend? Check out our latest research in the LMLIP Round Up.
