New national research led by HelpAge Canada on Men’s Sheds and men’s wellbeing will be shared at our ShedFest West Shedder gathering in Edmonton next week.

The findings show how Men’s Sheds are help reduce isolation and strengthen connection and mental wellbeing among older men across Canada.

This is part of the growing national conversation on men’s and boys’ health, and the role community-based approaches can play in supporting healthier aging.

We had a great visit out to Salthaven Wildlife Rehabilitation & Education Centre on Sunday afternoon.

Huge thanks to their team for taking the time to show us around and give us a behind-the-scenes look at the work they do rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife. It was impressive to see the care, effort, and setup that goes into giving these animals a second chance.

From the birds of prey to the groundhog enclosure, there was a lot to take in—and a few close-up moments that made the visit even better.

Another solid outing and a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Great turnout at our bird feeder workshop this past Sunday at Lee Valley Tools.

Lots of hands-on building, problem-solving, and good conversation as everyone worked through their projects. These are the kinds of days that really show what the Shed is all about — learning, sharing skills, and building something together.

We’ve got bird feeders available for sale for $25 each, with proceeds supporting the Shed and future projects.

One of our members, Ken, took his a step further and mounted it on a post — looks incredible and ready for the yard (see photo). If you’re interested in having yours mounted like this, we can do that for you for a fee.

Another great morning around the table at our community breakfast.

Coffee on, plates full, and a room of people just sitting down and talking. Some knew each other, many didn’t—and that didn’t matter.

That’s what these mornings are about.

A big thank you to everyone who helped cook and make it happen—and to Amber Loydlangston from Museum London for a great talk that sparked some really good conversation.

We’re doing it again on Saturday, May 9th (see poster below).

No membership. No pressure.
Just show up, grab a coffee, and sit down.
