We have one more Cinema Politica screening to take us into the final stretch of the semester THIS THURSDAY.

Rec Room doors open at 430 & Nourishment is provided 🥙

Come catch a vibe and start thinking about what Art as Advocacy could look like with the screening of Urban Disobedience Toolkit.

Urban Disobedience Toolkit explores the evolving dynamics of public space in big cities, showing how art can inspire people to reclaim and reshape their urban environments. Through artistic interventions and performative lectures, the film illustrates ways to “take back the city.”

These elements are seamlessly interwoven under the direction of artist and filmmaker Vladimír Turner, who has spent nearly two decades dedicated to art in public space.

The title, Urban Disobedience Toolkit, highlights the avant-garde potential of art — not as mere decoration, but as a radical intervention and a driving force against technocratic perceptions of the world.

See ya there!

We want to hear what YOU think!

With 8 minutes to present, student participants will not necessarily be judged on their opinions but rather on their deliverance and passions.

Each participant receives a prize valued at $70.00. Grand prize is $700.00 cash! 💸

Wanna talk a bit more about the role music plays in advocacy and Identity?

Ethan is just a guy. A guy from Drumheller, Alberta who moved here, dropped out and works a job he doesn't like. You have met an Ethan before.

Where may (or may not) differ from others is Ethan plays music, loud music, very loud music. Music that doesn't sit back, doesn't cower, doesn't fade to the background. Music that stomps, that yells, that's against the grain. Music that's for everyone, and no one, music that gives a voice to the voiceless, the frustrated, and those who feel left behind.

From Grune to 50s Oldies to modern pop-punk and Midwest Emo, people have often found their voice in the world of Rock and Roll. This workshop will focus on how these genres have always been for the people, by the people. Hopefully by the end you too will feel inspired to get loud
