Allied Arts Council Lethbridge Providing Leadership in Advancing and Enhancing the Arts in Lethbridge and southern Alberta.

The Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge was established on March 20, 1958, with the objectives to encourage arts activities in Lethbridge and the surrounding district; to coordinate activities of member organizations; and to cooperate with persons, groups and organizations in the promotion of arts activities.

Congratulations to Sifan Hossain, this year's recipient of the Aspiring Artist Award!

Sifan Hossain is an 18 year-old mallet percussionist and drummer. He is currently enrolled in his first year of the pre-professional transfer engineering program offered by University of Lethbridge. Sifan’s dedication, passion, and commitment to artistic excellence for drumming has been recognized at municipal and provincial festival performances. Music is a huge part of Sifan’s life and has provided him essential life skills including discipline, perseverance, creativity and the importance of continuous improvement. Although currently pursuing engineering at university, Sifan intends to continue to develop his skills as a musician and remain actively involved with the music community.

The Aspiring Artist Award is an award presented to a student in grades 9 through 12 that recognizes the student’s level of achievement measured against peers at a similar stage of development. The award has a value of $1000 and is intended to support and encourage artistic work.

📣 Call for Artists! 📣

Art for the Moment invites artists and artist teams to propose temporary public art projects that will be installed or performed across Lethbridge between January and September 2027. The program’s goals include animating public spaces, spreading creative interventions across the city, collaborating with existing cultural activities or institutions, lowering barriers for artists new to public art, and creating documentation that can inform future advocacy. Projects should consider alignment with established festivals, markets, neighbourhood celebrations or other public programs, but independent ideas are welcome.

Congratulations to Ryan Jensen, this year's recipient of the Young Artist Award!

Ryan Jensen is an emerging artist based in Lethbridge, Alberta. He recently completed a BMus in Digital Audio Arts with Great Distinction from the University of Lethbridge in Spring 2025. Throughout university, Ryan practiced composition, music production, and performing as a classical percussionist. He has performed with Global Drums and the Lethbridge Symphony. Recently, his time has been dedicated to post-documentary art photography. He twice received the Roloff Beny Foundation Photographic Award in Fine Arts (2024, 2025). His series "What To Take With You" was exhibited at the University of Lethbridge in March 2025. Ryan’s latest photo series "Rocky" investigates Japanese-Canadian internment during the Second World War.

The Young Artist Award recognizes an emerging artist in the Lethbridge region who is working to advance and enhance the arts in Lethbridge. Sponsored by Fee Simple Law, the award has a value of $1000 and is intended to support and encourage artistic work.

The City of Lethbridge- City Hall Public Art Program, in partnership with the Downtown Lethbridge BRZ, is seeking expressions of interest from artists and local downtown businesses for Art After Hours: Downtown Roll Shutters, a temporary public art project that will bring up to 5 downtown Lethbridge business' roll shutters to life with vinyl artwork designed by local artists.

Oki and thank you for coming out to the Community Jingle Dress Project with the AAC on National Truth and Reconciliation Day! The AAC and Casa acknowledge that we are on the traditional lands of the Blackfoot Confederacy in Sikóóhkotok. We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing and caring for this land, as well as all Indigenous and Metis peoples who continue to share and strengthen our community.

As a community, we created over 300 jingles to be added to the Community Jingle Dress Project created/designed/envisioned by Serene Weasel Traveller. Thank you for being part of the circle of connection and reconciliation. The jingles will continue to be added over the next month. Be sure to see the finished dress at The Gallery celebrations on Saturday, November 7th.

Thank you to Serene Weasel Traveller for inviting us to be part of this project. Thank you to Megan Gros Ventre Boy for dancing and sharing the Jingle Dance with us. Congratulations to CKXU 88.3 FM, this year's recipient of the AACE Service Organization Award!

CKXU has a long history of supporting the community as an independent campus radio station. From it’s early days as a PA system in University Hall, to an AM station as CKUL in the 70s, to a cable FM radio station in the 80s, to becoming a true FM radio station as CKXU in the 80s, to broadcasting to the city at 125 watts and even boosting the signal in 2018 to reach a 125 km radius outside of Lethbridge, CKXU has shared its unique voice in southern Alberta. The station has been proudly volunteer-driven since its early beginnings, providing students and community members opportunities to share a diverse array of music, conversations, tools, training, events, and programming. The station cultivates an inclusive and diverse culture while showcasing and promoting southern Alberta.

The AACE Service Organization Award recognizes a club, service organization or non-for-profit group that has contributed to the Lethbridge community through the arts.
