The LA Swim Club is Lethbridge's premier competitive swim team, providing professional instruction and a positive environment for swimmers of all ages. Founded in 1950 by former Olympic swimmer Stan Siwik, LASC is a presence at the provincial, national, and international level of competition. With programming from the learn-to-swim level to elite performance, LASC promotes athletic excellence through progressive holistic training. LASC is governed by Swim Alberta at the provincial level, Swimming Canada at the national level, and FINA at the international level. Our coaches are certified, recognized professionals, trained specifically to work with athletes at various physiological and psychological stages of development. The club offers year-round training for competitive swimmers at the University of Lethbridge's Max Bell Regional Aquatic Center.

Friday Night Races are back!!

We’re kicking off the first Friday Night Races of the season on October 16th, and we’re excited to get everyone back on deck for an evening of racing and fun.

Please be on deck at 4:15 PM for warm-ups, racing is from 5:00–6:00 PM.

We’re also excited to announce Davis GMC Buick as our Friday Night Races sponsor for the entire season! Thank you for supporting our swimmers and helping make these race nights possible.

Once racing wraps up, join us immediately after in room TH201 for ice cream!

A quick reminder, we will need 16 parent volunteers on deck to help with timing.

Last week, Kate Machacek and Bentley Eastman attended Swim Alberta's Watchlist Provincial Team Camp in Calgary where they gathered with the top swimmers in the province to train with, compete against, and learn from. LASC Coach Josh Sorensen also attended as a camp staff member, working as an Assistant Coach. Swimmers were selected for the Watchlist Team through Long Course performances from the previous season. Kate qualified for the Provincial Team through her 50 & 100 Free performances, while Bentley qualified through his 100 Back.

The two day camp featured 4 swim sessions going through a variety of workouts and training stimuli. Supplementing the swim practices were gym, activation, and nutrition sessions. Outside of the training, swimmers stayed with each other at a hotel and spent time with new friends and Provincial teammates.

Congratulations to Kate and Bentley for qualifying and attending the camp. We hope they learned some new skills and are ready to level up their training at home, while sharing what they learned.

A quick reminder there is no swimming this Saturday and Monday because the pool is closed for Thanksgiving, so you’ll have to find something else to do with all that energy! Maybe catch up on sleep, spend time with family, and see how much turkey you can actually eat.

Nutrition for Swimmers 2.0 with Erin Pinder, Registered Dietitian.

Join us Saturday, October 17 from 9:30-10:30 in room TH201, for an in-depth discussion on a variety of topics, including:
-How to feed a growing swimmer
-Recovery nutrition
-Healthy body and food talk
-Nutrient deficiencies and how they can affect young swimmers
-Recipes and practical tips for busy family life and sports schedules, and swim meet food prep!!

The presentation is open to all LASC families and their swimmers, although it will be geared towards parents.

THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE to purchase tickets for the Dive for Dollars Cash Raffle, there is less than two weeks left to get your raffle tickets!

So far, we have sold close to half of the available tickets, so hit up those friends and family members over Thanksgiving dinner this weekend and let’s see how many more we can sell!

- ALL ticket stubs need to be returned to Lindsay by Monday, October 19th. The Draw is on October 25th and we cannot hold the draw unless all tickets are accounted for. If you have sent money but haven’t picked up your tickets, please do so.

-Each booklet contains 10 tickets at $10 a ticket. We have some significant cash prizes up for grabs with the Top 3 Prizes being $3000, $1000, and $500 respectively.

-A big bonus for all the families selling the tickets, for each booklet you sell, $70 goes towards your fundraising commitment as well. And you can sell multiple booklets, so you can make quite a dent in that commitment with a few books.

We would love to see everyone this Saturday, October 3rd for a night of fun at the Lethbridge Corn Maze!

When: Saturday, October 3 from 6-10pm

Admission rates are as follows and can be paid directly to the corn maze at the time of the event.
General (ages 6+): $14
Family rate (ages 6+): $12 per person
Ages 3-5: $6

We have rented the "Hedge Maze Shelter" for the evening and will be providing chips and marshmallows to swimmers and their families! While there will be some roasting sticks on hand, please feel free to bring additional roasting sticks and chairs!

We look forward to seeing everyone there!!
