Our Dearest Supporters, Adopters, Fosters, Friends, and Family;
It is with our deepest sadness and regret that we must officially announce the closure of Archie’s Exotic Pet Rescue.
When we opened our rescue seven years ago, we never could have imagined how much it would grow or the impact it would have. Together, we have saved and cared for over 450 rabbits and other exotic pets. This incredible journey would not have been possible without the unwavering support, love, and dedication of our community. For that, we will always be profoundly grateful.
We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to every single one of you. Your devotion, compassion, and belief in our mission have meant the world to us and to the animals we’ve had the privilege of caring for.
Several circumstances beyond our control have contributed to this outcome, including the lack of a suitable facility, financial constraints, a shortage of board members, limited fosters and adopters, unreliable volunteer availability and the toll of ongoing mental and physical burnout.
Over the past few months, our small but dedicated team has worked tirelessly to address certain challenges while finding loving homes for the animals still in our care. This was all in an effort to close our doors with grace, dignity, and respect for the reputation and relationships we’ve built. We wanted to say goodbye to you with pride, for everything that we have accomplished together since our conception, and for all of the precious angels we saved over these years. At this time, everything has been carefully and thoughtfully buttoned up, and we are now able to share our formal closure date of April 30th.
For those that depend on us for hay; Our hay distribution service will be discontinued. We recommend purchasing through Hop for Hay, a private business not associated with the rescue. Their hay is purchased from the same supplier as ours, so it’s the same delicious hay your bun knows and loves. Orders can be placed through Hop for Hay on Facebook or by emailing [email protected].
We want to emphasize how much local rescues need your support. Rescues operate on limited resources and rely entirely on the generosity of volunteers, fosters, adopters, and donors. Even small acts of help—fundraising, donating, or simply spreading the word—make a huge difference. If you have a passion for animals, please consider supporting your local rescue organizations. They need you now more than ever.
Finally, as our chapter gently comes to an end, our hearts will remain with the creatures and the community we’ve served. The need for exotic animal rescue in Lethbridge is still so great, and we hold onto the hope that someone out there will feel the calling to start a new rescue—to rise like a phoenix from our ashes and give new life to this vital work.
Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything. We are incredibly honored to forever carry the memories of the animals whose lives were changed through this rescue.
With love and gratitude,
The Archie’s Exotic Pet Rescue Team
