This spring, our Love in Bloom 50/50 Raffle reached a jackpot of $16,605, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the support of the community.
Dorothy O. (pictured here), a fellow animal lover, took home 50% of the funds, and one of the animals who benefited directly from the fundraiser is Sophie. She’s a playful seven-year-old Yellow Labrador Retriever who came into our care with Lyme disease and a complicated knee injury affecting her mobility and comfort.
After months of treatment and careful assessment, Sophie’s veterinary team determined that surgery was not the best path forward. Instead, she was fitted for a custom brace at Canadian Animal Rehab Services and began a rehabilitation plan designed to support her long-term mobility and quality of life.
Today, Sophie is adapting beautifully to her new brace and enjoying walks, playtime, and spending time with her people.
The timing of this year’s raffle also coincided with the arrival of kitten season, when our shelter and foster homes begin caring for an increasing number of vulnerable kittens and nursing mothers.
As LAWS receives no government funding, support from our community makes stories like Sophie’s possible. From specialized veterinary care to the daily needs of animals in foster care, every ticket purchased helped us continue saying “yes” to animals who need us.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s raffle and congratulations again to our winner, Dorothy. Your support is making a real difference.
