Cuddles for Cancer

Cuddles for Cancer Faith Dickinson created Cuddles for Cancer when she was only 9 years old. What began as a summer project has grown into a globally recognized organization.

To date, more than 12,000 blankets have been & they’ve been sent to over 50 countries worldwide 💗 Faith created Cuddles for Cancer when she was just nine years old. After hearing that cancer patients often got cold during their treatments, Faith came up with the idea of making fleece blankets, hoping it would bring patients warmth, comfort and love. Since then, she has raised over $15,000 to help

her make 700+ of her cuddle blankets. They have been sent all across Canada, the U.S. and to France, England and Australia. She has also created a signature 'soldier' blanket for her "Sponsor a Soldier" campaign for soldiers overseas and those suffering from injuries or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, many of these blankets have been sent to Afghanistan and Kuwait. She recently launched a campaign called Kids at Christmas, asking the community to sponsor a child to ensure every child admitted to her local hospital is given a cuddle blanket on Christmas Eve.

Last September, we honoured our Founder Faiths birthday, by raising funds for blankets for the new build of the Ronald McDonald House in Ottawa. The house went from offering 14 bedrooms/suites to 36! They more than doubled their capacity ❤️

We were able to raise an astonishing $1,700 which provided exactly enough to make 36 cuddle blankets! One for each room! Our dedicated volunteers here in Lakefield/Peterborough made blankets, but so did the St. John Ambulance team in Ottawa! We made blankets at their headquarters, with their amazing volunteers! Our Military Liaison, MWO Brent Schriner, co-ordinated the blanket making event. Brent is also the Council Training Officer for St. John Ambulance in Ottawa. A heartfelt thank you to each and every single volunteer who contributed! You all made a difference!

We couldn’t have done this without YOU!!! With your financial support, 36 youth have their very own cuddle blanket. Because of YOUR incredible generosity and kindness. Our followers are truly extraordinary!

We are now in desperate mode!

We’ve been looking for a new ‘home’ to store our blankets! If you know of a space that is clean and FREE, please send us any leads that you may have! We’d appreciate your support!

We do not need to make blankets in the space, it is a space that will be used, strictly to store our fleece, banner, scissors and swag!

Please do not offer your homes to us! As much as we appreciate your offers, it’s just not practical to us.

We HAVE received a very kind offer from a Church in Peterborough, however, we’d love to keep Cuddles for Cancer in Lakefield.

Good Morning! Happy Sunday Everyone!

We hope you’ve had a wonderful summer so far, there’s only a week or two left (depending on which school district you’re living in….some of our kids go back next week, others go back after Labour Day), be sure to get outside and enjoy it while you can ☀️
