Have you seen these flyers popping up around town?

We’re inviting all dog lovers (and community lovers) to join us for the 2026 LAWS Doggie Dash on June 14 at Isabel Morris Park in Lakefield.

This family-friendly fundraiser combines a community dog walk with a lively afternoon in support of the animals in our care. Participants can choose between a 1.5 or 2.5 km walk through the village of Lakefield alongside walk leaders Betty Baker and Washboard Hank. Afterwards, everyone is invited back to the part to enjoy live music from Caitlin O’Connor, food vendors, games, local artisans, and small businesses.

Everyone is welcome, whether you BYOD (bring your own dog) or just join in with your walking shoes.

Each participant or team commits to raising a minimum of $100 to support LAWS and will receive a personalized fundraising page to share with family, friends, and supporters.

We’re also currently looking for sponsors, vendors, and prize donors who would like to be part of the event.

We’re getting excited for a wonderful day of community, music, dogs, and fundraising for a great cause. We’d love to have you join us!

At our latest club meeting, we had the pleasure of celebrating milestone anniversaries and officially welcoming our 2026–2027 Board of Directors. Thank you to 2nd Vice District Governor Lion Nawar Hage for performing the installation ceremony and for Region Chair 11 West, Lion Mike Hage for sharing more about Guiding Lions.

We’re excited for the year ahead and confident we will continue building on the strong foundation we’ve already created. 🦁💜

Well done!

Yesterday, Mayor Sherry Senis was on hand to celebrate the grand opening of the Buckhorn Food Pantry.

Thanks to the dedication and generosity of the Buckhorn Lions Club and Wesley United Church, this new space will ensure that those in need can access the support they deserve, close to home.
We are grateful to everyone who helped bring this important initiative to life.

Together, we are building a stronger, more compassionate community. 💙

We’re so proud to support the Lakefield United Church in the opening of an Emergency Community Comfort Centre in Lakefield 💙

This meaningful initiative will provide a safe, warm and welcoming daytime space for individuals and families facing challenging situations—whether during extreme weather, power outages, or other unexpected disruptions.

Made possible by the kindness of volunteers, this centre helps ensure no one in our community is left without care and support when they need it most.

This donation was made possible through our joint summer raffle with the Lakefield & District Lions—thank you to everyone who contributed!
